Glad I did...
Almost didn't purchase this book because all the previous reviews talked about the bad audio quality of the book, and how hard it was to hear it. I like to read series in order so I purchased Cat and Mouse anyway. I am glad I did...
Either this is a new issue or they have resolved the audio issues, because I had no trouble hearing the book. And I want to note that I have hearing issues that can make it difficult to understand some things depending on the circumstances. I would recommend this book. By the way, I downloaded format 4.
The story kept me interested, even though I'm not a fan of abridged versions. Reading the series in order was important to me and I'm happy I went ahead and bought the book.

Terrible Audio
This book had a pretty decent plot. It was typical Alex Cross. However, the audio was so bad that I could not listen to it for more than about 30 minutes at a time. I will not download anymore books unless they are available in format 3 or higher. It was a waste of a credit!

My worst use of a credit ever.
First, I hate abridged books, and I overlooked that significant word when I purchased. It jumps from action scene to action scene without letting any feelings for the characters develop or any sense of curiosity to build. Second, the sound effects were terribly annoying in this book. I didn't have any audio difficulties that other readers mentioned, but the background music and whispering voices signifying thoughts were someone's very bad idea. The fact that the book was abridged probably added to that nuisance factor, as the sound effects in audio books typically accompany the most dramatic scenes, which of course are the only ones to be found in an abridged version. I would have given zero stars for performance had I had the option, and for the story I would have given a question mark. Story development just isn't adequate in abridged books.

One of my favorite Alex Cross novels
This is another great Alex Cross story. In Cat and Mouse you get two separate killers, so just when you think the story is over, it has really just begun. In Cat and Mouse Gary Soneegee is back to exact revenge against Alex and his family. While Soneegee has his story line, there is also a new killer who has the FBI and Alex Cross traveling all over the world to figure out his next move.
Get ready for a wild ride, this is a story that just keeps moving.
