Publisher's summary

Lacy Marie Crocker has settled into a comfortable groove back home in New Orleans, and with Valentine's Day right around the corner, she's busier than ever running a thriving pet boutique, helping her mother organize the upcoming National Pet Pageant, and untangling her complicated love life. But when delivering a king-sized order of dreidel-shaped doggy biscuits for a Saint Berdoodle's bark-mitzvah, Lacy stumbles into yet another murder scene - and the last person to see the victim alive was her own father.

It's up to Lacy to clear her dad's name from the suspect list before Detective Jack Oliver has to cage him for good. But just when she starts pawing at the truth, she receives a threatening letter from a mysterious blackmailer bent on silencing her with her own secrets. And Lacy's not the only one with bones in her closet.

Time's running out in this deadly cat-and-mouse game in Cat Got Your Secrets, the delightfully funny third novel in Julie Chase's Kitty Couture mystery series.

Excellent Writing and Excellent Narration!

I wrote a review on the first book of this series, 'Cat Got Your Diamonds', covering all 4 books in the series, as they all were wonderful. I highly recommend and would definitely recommend all 4 books to a friend.

What can I say, I love the Kitty Couture Mysteries

These are so fun and the narrator does such a great job with the different characters. I am sorry there's only one more to listen to. Fingers crossed there will be more!

Great narrator

Loved the humor and the mystery. Narrator really brings the characters to life. Wish there were more books in this series!

A purrrfect cozy mystery

After reading a bunch of “serious” mysteries, this is like a palate cleanser for the heart/ mind/soul. This is not the first of this series but each gets slightly better. Yes it’s New Orleans. Yes it’s high society. Yes, the rich are different. But these people do exist in the Hamptons, the Vineyard, Newport etc. Lacey is the talented artistic owner of a pet boutique who just finds herself embroiled in the mystery of the killing of the father’s close friend. Plus there’s some handsome men, a well meaning but opinionated mother, pet vet father, and other odd characters. The plot has murder, handsome police detective, blackmail, false leads, and a light hearted animal lover sub plot. Read the series in order if possible but for a well written light mystery try this.

Listen to the earlier books first

I didn't listen to the first two books in this series so this review may be a little unfair. I liked the story but I think I may have missed some of the connectors. There were some relationships that may have resonated deeper if I had the complete story. As it was, I didn't get the feels when I should have.

Decent story. Great narration. Best to start with book one.

Same old same old.

This book is just like the other two. Not a bad read. This book is an okay way to pass the time. Don't expect any interesting characters with interesting backgrounds. These books take place in a world of gray where everyone looks and acts the same.

again , just okay

This book in the series is also just okay. Though the story is cute, it was quite predictable

Book three and the best so far

Thoroughly enjoyable cozy mystery. The characters have grown and come into their own, and the murderer was a surprise

New Orleans style fun

I enjoyed this book. This is the third book in the series and the only reason that it only gets a four star is because the main character is still torn between the two men in her life and although it adds drama to the story I choose the book for the mystery and the quirky New Orleans vibe. Other than that I enjoyed it. I like Lacy as a main character (if only she would choose) and just love her job as a pet fashion designer. This story is a standalone mystery but it also wraps up the mystery from the previous books, so although not internally necessarily it might help to know the background between the detective and the his grandfather's girlfriend. The mystery was interesting and I didn't guess the killer or the motive, until about the same time as Lacy. Lacy carried out a good investigation and I liked how it played out. Off to start the next book.
Lacy is finally beginning to feel comfortable with her life, job and even her mother but it is her father that now has her worried when he starts to act weird. The next morning Lacy learns her father had an argument with his best friend but it is a lot worse than just a falling out because just hours after the argument he is found dead and the police are looking at her father. For her
Socialite mother it's a case of putting on a brave face and business as usual but for Lacy it's time to clear her father's name. Can she find the killer? It seems the man had many secrets, one of them going her was already dying. Was his death sentence a reason to do something foolish? Like confront a blackmailer? Lacy is about to find out when she herself receives photos from her past.
I liked the narrator. She gives you the feeling of being in New Orleans with her accented voice.

The Plot is Good…

However, I just can’t warm to Lacy…

This time around, I guessed the perpetrator almost immediately! Not because it was readily apparent, but because it made sense.

Slightly formulaic

This is a pleasant fluffy story which is engaging enough, if you can ignore the insanity of dressing animals in clothing.

However, it does seem a bit formulaic with the characters and behaviours very similar to other American series I have recently encountered on Audible. Perhaps the are the same authors or perhaps this is a new sub genre say “Norman Rockwell” romance/mysteries?

1 now and then ok but too formulaic to listen in quick succession

A little tone-deaf

While the plot itself is the kind of frivolous-mystery that I enjoyed in the first two books, I was deeply disappointed that in the last part of the book "dressing up chickens for some fundraising" is equated to actually using the piles of money that you have to do some good in the world. It caused me to skip a good part of the confrontation with the villain.

A pleasure to read

Loved the story, a charming and relaxing murder mystery set within the high society of New Orleans. Characters are so nice and girly with lots of references to cute and furry animals. Narrator is brilliant
