Love the voices

This is short look at what reading old tomes can do. If I were to ever stumble across one, I don't think I would try to read it. Being trapped with a monster on the loose is not cool. I listened to this book and loved the many voices of the narrator.

First in a dark series of terror

Imagine some hick in the backwoods in the 60’s finds something like a translated version of the necronomicon. Compelled to read and perform a rite from the book he summons the Car Nex. An abominable horror of the darkest imagining with an insatiable hunger for death and destruction. It begins with his family, then his town and finally comes for him. Can he find a way to stop it before everyone is dead? A great horror short. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

Awesome

The Car Nex series by Terry West are all very good in my opinion, some have different writers but you can read them in any order, they all take place in the fictional Texas town of Pleasant Storm. I received this audiobook for free and I am giving my voluntary unbiased review...The narrating done by Gene Blake was also very well done.

Not bad

Nothing wrong with it, just a little bit "been done before".
Still enjoyed the story and the performance. I will check out the next in series to see if its worth continuing on.

Get In you Car and Go

I know that Terry M. West is a diverse writer and I either expect comedic horror or full on nightmare, I just felt like this was in the middle of his diversity and while he meant this to be horror, it seemed more comedy. I really just didn’t like the paring of the narrator. I felt like this was supposed to be a serious short, yet I heard the same guy who did a great job with Cecil and Bubba. Just didn't sit as right with me as it should have. Blake did a great job with the narration, I just still heard the humor in a humorless situation. If I hadn’t heard the other shorts first, I might have thought different, I just couldn’t get past hearing the humor of West’s other stories in this one.

The story itself is fairly intense and the bickering amongst the survivors is exactly how I expect everything to go down. West perfectly captures the feel and mood and the tension as I think it should be. I pictured the townsfolk all held up in a crawlspace fighting. Totally put me there and I would have picked up the rifle had I been the one to have the chance.

Gene Blake is a great narrator. I just think West picked him for the wrong story since he has done some of his comedy and I can’t go back. This really needed a narrator not associated with his other work. Sorry Blake, I enjoy your narration, but you should have passed on this one. You have a great voice for work, but I just can’t get behind you on this one.

I received this book for free for a honest review.  I loved the characters and storyline.  it flowed very well and held together.  The narrator did an excellent job of bringing the characters to life.  reccomend
