Publisher's Summary

A truly fulfilling marriage involves two people focusing on each other's needs rather than their own. Lysa TerKeurst, president of The Proverbs 31 Ministry, has written a practical guide for all spouses that will open their eyes to the needs, desires, and longings of the others. She offers eight essential criteria for capturing the heart of your spouse, with creative tips on how to accomplish them.

Having a great marriage takes time, creativity, and willingness. Capture His Heart and Capture Her Heart are excellent tools to help spouses run this very worthwhile race.

A wife need her husband to:

  • Be the spiritual leader of the home
  • Be her teammate in raising kids and taking care of the home
  • Treat her as a princess
  • Listen
  • Allow her time with friends
  • Encourage her with appreciation, affirmation, and admiration
  • Provide emotional fulfillment before sexual desires
  • Learn what makes women different from men

Really for wives, not the guys

Husbands don't bother! Get Love & Respect instead.

Lysa robs Ephesians 5:33 of the 'respect' you need when she suggests you pray for you wife to 'love you in the way you need' just PRAY that your wife will demonstrate respect to you, really! ...if this book was written for men. However, later she quotes other scripture exactly.

Most of the stories and anecdotes are very condemning or demeaning to us guys. Except her own husband! Wow, not very encouraging. This book should have been titled: Men Are Not Good Enough To Be Husbands, Just Ask Your Wife

The only redeeming factor was since I bought this on Audible, I kicked the play speed up!

Sadly, Lysa 'borrows' many ideas from other authors in every chapter.

She justifies women's manipulating behaviors by calling it 'the language of hints' and acknowledges that the point of this language is to get 'what they want', deliberately making communication difficult to test your love. Not OK!

I think women will love this book and buy it for their husbands. Maybe that was the marketing angle.

Honestly, I think the author's heart is in the right place. However, from what I know of her, she writes and speaks for women's conferences, and this book proves it.

Don't create a big regret.

Don't be the individual that says, "I wish I read this book before I..." Help is here now no matter how you feel. There is hope for your marriage. Take a step. Keep the faith. And read books like this amazing body of work by Lysa TerKeurst.

Deep Introspection

Mannnnn....this book challenged me. Not in the best place in our marriage and I wish things were better but if it to be better it is going to require work. I will do everything to hold on to my faith and do what God wants me to do. It is my responsibility to be the spiritual leader of my household. I was uncomfortable reading this book because I realized my areas of short comings. Thank you for highlighting these and again thank you for raising the expectation.

Definitely for Married People!

Very good, Christian advice for couples (husbands in particular, obviously), spiritual, practical and everything in between. I appreciate that it's by a woman for men. Very much exclusively for couples, however. I will have to come back for this read when I'm married!

Gut Punch

This book was fantastic! As I listen to it, it felt like a gut punch! Every time they described an action, and how my wife felt, it hit home in so many ways. It was truly a reality check!
