Publisher's summary

Baba Yaga has taken over and no one knows if Bethany Anne will ever come back.

Beaten on the crucible, Bethany Anne decided she will bring justice to the Kurtherians that tortured the Leath and her people, personally.

The problem? She releases Baba Yaga who has now taken control.

Even Adam and Tom aren't sure they can help their friend.

While Baba Yaga is tracking down the Seven Kurtherians, her friends and family are desperately trying to find her. During this time, General Lance Reyolds must start negotiations with other star nations who wish to create an Etheric Federation.

The problem?

How can you complete an Etheric Federation Treaty, if you can't find the Empress?

disappointing i understand the point but ...for once the delivery was lacking .. cannot go into more detail otherwise it would give away the story line. this is the first bad review on all the Michael Anderle books.

Filler but fun

More of the story. Not much happens, more setup for future stories than progression of the Arc. But still a fun read.

Great story

BA as Baba Yaga is something else. Get’s to jump every where and cause problems even for a bottle of Coke. Great job Emily with the voice over. I think I laughed through out part of the book as much as pondering over the sadness to other characters she left behind. Can’t believe the ride is almost over the this series.

Bethany Anne (Baba Yaga) goes renegade!

Wow! What an adventure! This one really hits you in the feels! Bethany Anne goes slightly schizophrenic with Baba Yaga and has identity issues. Putting on… well a new body… a new mental mindset. Man, Anderle did an amazing job with giving us a somewhat solo “Bethany Anne” book-long adventure as she takes it to the Kurtherian menace! But he also lets us see what is going on back in the Empire. How the crew is working on bringing about the Federation. The politics of it are frustrating and pretty dumb at the same time… is it ever a good idea to strip away military power when there are still outside threats…? Bakas!
Anyway, there are several great moments in this! We got to see Baba Yaga going out to several interesting worlds as she hunts down both Kurtherians and some villains who happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time…! Oh! And some poor, poor Pepsi drinkers…

We also have some of the crew trying to follow and find Bethany Anne. So we get to see some of the wreckage and other clues to Baba Yaga having come through.

Then you had the messages that various people that are closest to Bethany Anne, record and send to ADAM and TOM. Though Bethany Anne, oh sorry, I mean Baba Yaga, refused to listen to.

I loved the take downs of five of the Eight Kurtherians that Bethany Anne was after. Especially the final show down! Culminating with Shinigami ascending to full AI and then Bethany Anne breaking through the mask of Baba Yaga that she hid behind! It was some amazing character development! Then the huge emotional return of the Empress… Bethany Anne returning and breaking down in front of everyone but still welcomed with open arms and hearts… Anderle you are amazing! One more book in TKG left before moving on to Endgame!

Emily Beresford!!! You are pure epic BOSSOMNESS!!! You did such an amazing job! Not like it was in any doubt! You continue bringing the S-Game with our beloved Queen, Bethany Anne. You did beautifully with hitting me in the feels with not only Bethany Anne’s emotional moments but also the others such as Ricky Bobby and Fregin…! So beautiful!

transition and awakening

Some Spoilers. Bethany Anne, as her alter ego Baba Yaga, is on an epic quest to eliminate the Kurtherians. She eliminates 5, with three left. The only problem is, she is also hiding from herself, and her nearest and dearest. The General represents the Etheric Empire in talks to create an Etheric Federation. They need to get Empress BA back to make an appearance so they can retire her. BY/BA finally experiences enough, learns her lessons enough, she finally goes home to the Meredith Reynolds. And she is happy to hear that the time is right to go home to Earth to collect Michael, who has finally returned. One of the highlights is that Tabitha finally has a relationship going herself. The comments on grief are some of the best and most memorable in the book.
Beresford does a good job of narration; she really is the voice of the series.

AIs everywhere

It's awesome that there are more AIs ascending. And to make a newly born Shinigani AI become the catalyst to bring BA back to her senses, absolutely Brilliant. Fingers are crossed for Tabitha and Peter. BTW as a Coca Cola lover, I love the battle of the colas in the Empire.
Never stop imagining Michael
