Dissapointed

The thing that dissapointed me most with this book, and pritty much squached everything els in the plot for me, was that it was about Damen, who after being betrayd by his brother is turned into a pleasure slave for Prince Laurent... Which sound pritty exiting right? But thrue the whole book, there is not a singel sex scene between them. It actually go so far as to prevent the MC from having sex thrue the whole story by making the Prince some kind of prude. I mean common, dont make him a pleasure slave if he isnt going to "do his job" so to speak. I wont even bother with the rest of the series, might listen if they join the Romance Package, but if it dosnt its bye bye!

What a great start to this trilogy.

The author excels at character and world building, and it didn’t take long for me to become fully invested in the intrigue and especially the slow-burn romance.

Where's the M/M?

Even though this story has sexual scenes they are kind of sparse in a sense. I thought there would be more between the 2 main male leads. I went ahead and read some Reviews for the 2nd book and apparent we that is something that comes potentially later cause it sure as hell didn't happen in this book in fact it is hard to even see how it would get there. I did buy this book for the M/M Romance. So far in that category I am pretty disappointed.

I did however find the overall story pretty good the dynamics are interesting and that's what makes it kind of disappointing that they're not moving quickly into a more passionate relationship. I do very much enjoy the 2 main male leads and the supporting cast around them. Overall I think this series is gonna be decent just not quite what I was hoping for.

i really enjoyed listening to the characters come alive and how much angry they have for one another how they keep lieing to each other on who the prince (slave)is. great story to listen too

Lots of build up for what's to come.

I've been wanting to read this trilogy for so long- I'm not sure why I held off on it but I'm glad I finally bit the bullet! This first book is mostly background and build up for what's to come, and it has me completely intrigued.
It's definitely graphic and made me uncomfortable in parts. I more than likely would have passed on this if it was a contemporary read, but I don't mind so much when it's an historical read. I just kept imagining it as similar to one of my favorite television series, Spartacus.
I kept wanting Damen to just blurt out who he was, but I understand why he couldn't- it was just frustrating! So it's on to the next one to see how things start to come together.

The narration was fine. I admit I was expecting there to be some kind of an accent so it was kind of surprising to hear plain ol' english being spoken. I think Joel Leslie would have done a great job performing this series, but you can't always get what you want.

Clor Me Intrigued

Okay...intense start but I'm curious where this is going to go. It is a quick listen and little time is wasted getting into things. Check the trigger warnings for sure but don't write it off so soon.

Not for me but probably for someone.

The narration was good. I just should've done more research on the book. Didn't expect so much graphic sex and rape. Not bad, just not at all my taste. Giving it 3 because the overall story is interesting and she did an ok job of world building.
