What happens when an American heiress to a shipping company crosses paths with a pirate?

Miss Prudence Drake desires nothing more than to return to America and pick up the pieces of her life. After being held captive on the Black Dawn and witnessing her papa's murder, the last thing she wants is to find herself in the hands of another pirate - even if he is handsome and honorable.

Captain Jasper Blackmore has forsaken his past, walking away from England's shores in search of a new adventure after the war left him physically scarred and jilted by the one lady he dared to love. An American hoyden could never fit into his world despite his attraction to her.

Great historical romance

Loved this book. Well written and James Young really brought the story to life . I love the independence of Prudence and her passion for life. Jasper is just a softy under that tough exterior. Great historical romance that kept me up late in to the night. I

Most definitely to any who loves historical romance or pirates!

Who was your favorite character and why?

The Pirate!

Any additional comments?

Who does not love a good pirate story! Where pirates raid ships and come across a beautiful lady. With a strong leading lady how could any pirate not fall for her, but this pirate is determined to stay single. Hopefully he wakes up in time. Great adventure and love story.

Very refreshing!

I am definitely a fan of Prudence! She wasn't just a damsel in distress. She new what she wanted and was not afraid to show it. Although, Jasper was at war with his feelings im glad the author let us know what was going on in his head. Narration was also enjoyable! I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Captain of My Heart

Take one strong-minded woman who has been raised by and on the sea and one brooding yet captivating captain that comes to her aid and you have yourself one smoldering adventure.
Prudence Drake's passion for life lands her in a world of trouble and in the hands of Captain Jasper Blackmore. Jasper is taken by the spirited young beauty but his current life has no room for love.
I liked the chemistry between these two and I could appreciate the complexity of feelings Jasper worked.

Amanda Mariel weaves wonderful worlds on the sea and land and James Young pulls you in with his performance of this story.

Cute and sweet. Not sizzling

A cute short story. A bit on the sugary sweet side. No sex just flirtiness. If that's a word. Anyway it was rated sizzling. No way I'm not sure the kisses were more than sweet.

A Delectable Pirate Robin Hood

For a novella, the hero of this book is surprisingly complex and in a completely wonderful way! In general, I'm not much of a fan of pirate romance, but I know and enjoy this author's work enough to trust her. She, and this story, did not disappoint. The heroine is strong and resilient, and after the first scene with her and her father, I was sorry we did not get to see more of him. He certainly raised a tough young lady who wasn't afraid to stand up against those physically stronger, and she had a clear sense of her duties and obligations, though she probably would not attach those words to them because doing so was just a part of who she intrinsically was. The hero isn't a simple pirate captain. He's a wounded Napoleonic War hero who was a privateer—essentially a pirate acting at the government's behest—before he struck out on his own. But his piracy is surprisingly noble. He not only gives all his gains to support an orphanage, but he commits acts of piracy against bad pirates, taking their ill-gotten gains from them and also saving their victims, as he did with our heroine when they met—even though she fought him tooth and nail because she, of course, didn't know the sort of man—or pirate—he was. His crew is also a delight, especially the ones we get to know personally on their voyage. I could feel right along with the heroine not wanting to leave them—and the hero—when they brought her to her final destination. I enjoyed the narrator of this book. Usually, this author uses female narrators, but this time she chose to use a swoony-sounding English male narrator. Perfect for Regency romance. This book was delicious fun. Highly recommended.

A good short story

A well developed plot and characters give this story a good listen.
You will enjoy the suspense of not being able to see where it will end up. First one direction and then another.
The narrator was not as enthusiastic as some I've enjoyed, but not terrible.

Captivated by the Captain

A historical romance with a sassy heroine and a pirate with a heart of gold. They don't believe the belong together but as the journey comes to and end they have a hard decision to make.
