Theme of finding the one, followed by break throughout time I didn't like

The story is well written but I found it painful, two perfect people fall in love or at least in lust but enough to know the other is the one but keep breaking up, or disappearing in the night all because the one who wants to be actress can't come out because it will ruin her career chances. So they keep meeting over the decades have hot sex, awful break ups on and on until she finally comes out and it's just too late for them. I hated it, to much self hate,

Good Story

I really liked the story. Although it was a bit predictable I like that we took a journey into the lives of successful and driven women who happen to be lesbians. The struggle portrayed is very real and was easy to connect with, regardless of sexual orientation. I always struggle with narration because I find it cheesy that the narrator changes the influx of their tone when changing character. it kinda takes me back to elementary school but I did like the voices and the accents. I was not however fond of the excessive imagery. I don't need to know the details of everything I'm surrounded by so it felt forced. But I really did like the story and I'd recommend it just as I've reviewed it.

I couldn't

I had a hard time listening to this book. The voice actor was not easy to follow. it's not my cup of tea. I couldn't listen to the whole thing. I skipped chapters.

Loved this story!

I loved this story and the performance by the reader kept me engaged the entire time!

Jennifer LaMont!!!!

I didn’t think I could end up loving her but I did! A different take on slow burn where we slowly see the layers peel away to a kind and loving heart - bravo for this story. Highly recommend!

Not a bad way to spend 10 hours

The story pushed some buttons that probably needed pushing for me; so that's points in its favor. I'd be giving away too much story to say more about what I liked, but I liked it more than I expected to (voiced isn't usually my choice of media, nor is the subject matter what I usually read). The voicework was done by a friend of mine, and I hear her voice in a lot of it, so it's hard to sort that out as I listen, but she pulled the characters apart well enough for me to get into the story.

Another great love story

This story takes place over 20 years. It shows how two people learn and grow and then find each other again at the right time in their lives. Love love it.

I Resemble That Remark!

I really appreciate Ms. Kallmaker's complex characters and lack of drama. The people are rich, even confusing... but in a good way!

Geeks are distracted by shiny things... and beautiful women. Models and actresses can be awesome at #STEM endeavors. Geeks aren't always unselfish and can be um idiots. Models and actresses have to have their worlds well compartmentalized to be what/who is needed for their careers and not be mistaken for whoever is in a popular magazine of recognizable part. I am truly in awe of people who don't crumble. It's not just ego or not strictly self-aggrandizement. It must take a tremendous amount of strength. Hat's off to every publicly visible woman who can have millions of people think they know them and people who are close that may never know them.

In touch with the times

Excellent romance novel that is in touch with what's currently discussed (and how) in the LGBT community. Well read too!

Fiction that simulates industry life...

There have been some mixed reviews regarding this book and I'm glad that I waited to hear it myself before drawing conclusions. There are just enough parallels to the life and times in the industry (really both entertainment and technology ) and how people felt they need and or needed to be in order to have the chance to make it. Time are changing, I don't think three is the "self-loathing" that at least one reviewer expressed here. I do think that there characters did what they geeky they needed to do in order to successfully succeed in their careers. Give this one a shot, I think it is worth the listen.
