Weather Warden Joanne Baldwin and her new husband, the Djinn David, are running from a malevolent hurricane bent on destroying her. Joined by an army of fellow Wardens and Djinn onboard a hijacked luxury liner, Joanne has lured the storm into furious pursuit. TOO MUCH OF THE SAME PROBLEM,

I am giving up on this series. I was a bit disappointed that things are just getting nowhere. The other wardens are not realty helping Joanne and David. Even Lewis is not much help. Should have come to a conclusion much earlier,

this series "was good" until now!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

up until this installment in the series I would have said yes. now I am thinking no. unless the ending of total eclipse finds a way to redeem everything that this one messed up.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

a large dose of Disappointment was how I reacted to the ending of this book, I will be taking a while to move on the the next book in this series which I think is the final book and conclusion, total eclipse. but what is started must be finished.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Dina Pearlman?

sure, the voice wasn't a problem

Was Cape Storm worth the listening time?

I thought this book was actually a waste of time due to the story line and the twist that I did not like and cannot spoil with one of the MC'S.

Any additional comments?

don't get your hopes up.

A little Cthulhu a lotta formula

This final trilogy is an improvement over the shampoo, rinse, repeat middle trilogy. I like this installment’s “ghost ship into the Bermuda Triangle apocalypse” theme: it gave good claustrophobic creepiness, especially with the demon possession bit. This book finally (finally!) has a bunch of magic scenes, sees Joanne using her power strategically, sees Team Joanne executing a plan instead of just reacting, and sees a villain from the get-go who has actual lines and smarm instead of the usual end-book, last minute villain reveal/defeat.

But, for every new thing, there were ten formula repeats. How many times does Joanne die and get brought back? How many times does demon possession cause evil to run amok? How many times is there a hidden villain-reveal moment? Meanwhile, it’s the same core cast doing the same core things (Lewis the deliberate tactician, Kevin the mouthy teenage warden, etc). There’s still the supporting cast merely popping in for a scene or two, leaving 90% of the story as the Joanne and David show.
And, there’s still the cliffhanger where one villain is caput but a new, bigger threat teases the next book where, to no one’s surprise, Joanne and David once again are weak, in peril, and facing seemingly impossible odds at staving off Armageddon. The final book is more formula and rehashing of previous plots. I recommend stopping here.

Paranormal to the Extreme

I have to admit that I read all of the books in this series. Avidly. But of all the stories, the one I liked the best was "Thin Air" when Joanne Baldwin loses her memory. Ultimately these books are over the top. Baldwin has super powers although she is human, but she interacts with Djinn and demons, and they also have superpowers. The best part of these stories is the conflicted nature of our heroine. She is the ultimate good guy--er gal. She's the best and most powerful of the Wardens, although she says Lewis is stronger. But being the best means being hunted and taunted by darker forces--demons. Her whole story centers around her unfortunate ingestion of a demon at the hands of one of her fellow wardens. From there, the story devolves from one book to the next as she tries to get out of her sticky trap existence. Book 8 is really out there as we near the conclusion. Possessed by a demon she is trying to remove, she all but kills her team and friends.

You got it girl!!!

Everywhere Joann goes there are weather problems. She is funny resourceful and always horny for David. I enjoy see her get into trouble through her altruistic endowers. I am waiting for David to tell her that if you let me kill him in book one he would not be a problem now! But??? I don???t think that would matter, since dead does not necessary mean dead. Fast cars, weather hair, great shoes, and lots of attitude makes this series a fun read.
