Publisher's summary

Cannon West left his hockey playing days behind to care for his dying wife but has since found success on the other side of the bench. Now, as the youngest head coach in league history, he’s hoping to lead the Pittsburgh Titans to a winning season. The last thing he’s looking for is a relationship, but life sometimes takes us in another direction.

The Pittsburgh Titans are still working to move on from the tragic plane crash that forever changed the landscape of their organization. Having lost my wife, I know all about grief and the guilt of survival, which makes me uniquely equipped to take this team to the next level. From the very first time I stepped inside the Titans’ arena, I knew I was exactly where I needed to be.

New to town, I’m still establishing my routine, but I have the most important aspect under control—the coffee shop where I stop on my way to the arena every morning. A strong cup of java and the gorgeous manager who I can’t help but chat up is quickly becoming my favorite way to start the day. But no matter how much I enjoy the blush that stains Ava Cavanaugh’s cheeks with my admittedly awkward attempt at flirting, I know it will never be more than brazen banter with a new friend. My job consumes almost all my time, and I know firsthand what that level of commitment can do to a relationship.

That doesn’t mean I’m not open to some fun. My career comes first, but Ava understands my boundaries. The only problem is that once I give into her temptation, the rules I set for myself become blurred, and my mixed signals hurt Ava—the one thing I promised I wouldn’t do. I’ve put myself in what seems to be an untenable situation, but I’ve faced those before. Now I need to find the strength to move past my fears or risk losing my second chance at love with the woman who has stolen my heart.

Cannon

I didn't think it could happen but this series just keeps getting better! Cannon is the new coach of the Titans. He is the youngest coach in the league and he comes to it honestly after retiring from play when his wife was diagnosed with cancer and stayed home to take care of her. Now he comes to the Titans and to his team he is a motivator but to his newest love interest he is dirty-talking alpha. Ava is the manager at the local coffee shop and after a few too many and lot too few hours sleep Ava is late for work and loses her job. Cannon being the alpha he is takes it upon himself to bring her along to the away games and soon Ava is not only an avid hockey fan but when she does find her dream job as a PA/marketing assistant she is able to do it remotely and keep on working wherever needed. Will these two be able to keep this up or will Cannon's hockey life and his former mother-in-law come between them? Oh, this story will pull at your heart but it will also get your motor running too! I cannot wait for more of this team!

Great story!

Cannon is swoon-worthy! After leaving his hockey career behind to take care of his dying wife, he becomes the youngest head coach in the hockey league. He is determined to make the rebuilt Pittsburgh Titans a team to contend to in the league.

After following her boyfriend to a new city, Ava not only does she find out he's cheated on her, he gets her fired and kicks her out of their apartment. Refusing to go back home to work for her families real estate company, Ava becomes a manager of a small barista where she meets Cannon.

After weeks of flirting, Cannon finally convinces Ava to go on a date with him. When they begin to date, Cannon sets boundaries which Ava agrees too. Cannon has moved on after the loss of his wife, but his ex-mother-in-law has not.
An unexpected visit from his ex-mother-in-law, brings forth all the guilt Cannon has carried for not being their for his wife during his hockey career. This causes Cannon to pull away from Ava and requests they take a break. Thinking they have broken up, she decides to relocate for her job.

Once Cannon realizes his mistake for pulling away from Ava, can he convince her to give him another chance so they can have their HEA.

Hockey Romance.

I love it when I pick up a book and it flows so well I don’t even know what time it is or how far along I am in the book. The next thing you know, I’m nearly finished and my family is expecting dinner. Oh well…it was a little late today. And it’s made so much better when listening to a book especially when done well like this one. Stephen Dexter and Mackenzie Cartwright did a brilliant job bringing Cannon and Ava to life.

These books are like episodes in a tv series where each character from the team is getting their own story told. In this edition, it’s the head coach Cannon who’s only been with the team a short time. He used to play hockey, but stepped away to care for his terminally ill wife. Now he is back, and is the youngest coach in the league, and he’s ecstatic to get them all the way to the cup. First things first though, he needs his coffee every morning. Or maybe it’s that he needs to see a certain barista to start his day off right. A little flirting and good coffee, what more could he want.

It was fun watching this couple develop. They took things slow and didn’t place unnecessary expectations on each other. They made the most of the limited time they had together. Just so happens, the more time they did, the more they got to know each other, the more they made time to be together. But it gets confusing when lines are crossed and what started out as good times, now feelings are involved and it’s going into murky territory. There is a little age gap between them, which seems to be the norm nowadays with romances, and they solve their problems maturely and without the silly dramatics.

It was also exciting to read about Hendrix, who’s book is up next and I feel there will be at least one more after that. Maybe Bain will get to tell his story. My fingers are crossed we get loads more from this team.

Great story and narration

5 star Cannon West’s story was a fabulous to The Pittsburgh Titans by Sawyer Bennett. After leaving his professional hockey career to take care of his dying wife he has now transitioned and is the head coach for the Titans. It’s a job he loves and he has high hopes of leading the team to a winning season after the death of his wife and the tragic loses the Titans experienced after the devastating plane crash.

The last thing he is looking for is a relationship but as we all know fate woes in mysterious ways and when he and Ava Cavanaugh cross paths, it seems fate has plans for them both.

This book was everything I was expecting and so much more. It was emotional and riveting and I read it in almost one go. Although Cannon is fixated on succeeding it was heart warming to watch the man come to life again. This is one of my favourite reads of 2023. Each time I pick up a book in this series I fall in love.

Stephen Dexter and Mackenzie Cartwright brought this story to life for me with wonderful performances. Their voices are easy to listen to and certainly did justice to the wonderful story that Ms. Bennett wove.

I loved this beautiful, fun and seductive story!

I loved this sixth book in the Pittsburgh Titans series so much! It was an incredibly sweet, tender, and super hot and sizzling story! Cannon is the new coach for the Titans, and is too busy for a relationship. But he can't stay away from his local coffee shop and bantering with the smart, beautiful assistant manager, Ava. They are attracted to each other and when Cannon asks her out she's surprised. She is so far out of his league, especially having low confidence after a terrible recent breakup. Cannon convinces her to meet him for drinks, where they hit it off and end up having a hot steamy night together. They continue seeing each other, building a sweet, and sexy relationship. But Cannon is a widower, who's wife never liked how much his work kept him away, so he doesn't want to commit to another relationship that will lead to more disappointment. Ava chased a man before that led to heartbreak. She is determined to live life on her own terms. She doesn't mind that Cannon is committed to his work, because he goes out of his way to show her how much he cares when he can. But when something happens to make Cannon afraid he is letting everyone down, will he lose what he never expected, and that really made him happy? I loved this beautiful, fun and seductive story! Cannon and Ava were so perfect together. They had fun, made each other stronger, and their chemistry was explosive! I also love the bond this sexy hockey team has, and their scenes together are always so much fun. They give each other a hard time but they also support each other unconditionally. I love how each story gives us a new perspective on events from past books while pulling us in deeper to this intriguing team and the women who challenge and love them.
Stephen Dexter and Mackenzie Cartwright are superb storytellers! They embodied these characters perfectly, bringing them to life so clearly. Dexter's expressive voice was so poignant and exhilarating, he portrayed Cannon's conflicting emotions between extremely busy coach and widower to passionate friend and lover who wanted to live again, so convincingly. He really had my heart racing with those many emotions, as well as with the sex scenes that had the perfect tone and balance of heat, excitement, and passion. Cartwright played the troubled Ava, who was finding her way, so beautifully. Her transformation from timid lover to confident and sexy seductress and partner was outstanding.
This is a fun, sexy and passionate story and series, and I can't wait for more from the Titans!

Great Read

Cannon (Pittsburgh Titans #6) was a great read by Sawyer Bennett. Cannon West left hockey to take care of her dying wife. He is now the youngest head coach in the league history and wants to led the Pittsburgh Titans to a winning season. The Titans are still moving on from a tragic plane crash that changed their organization. Every morning he stops at the coffee shop with the gorgeous manager, Ava Cavanaugh. Unfortunately his job consumes all his time and he isn't sure he has time for a relationship. They make rules to have some fun but his mixed signals hurt Ava. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

Could not finish

I could only make it to chapter 10 before I could not do it anymore. It is the same thing as always from this author. People get together they hook up and they both for whatever reason feel like that’s all they can really do. With all of the hockey books that this author has done at this point, I cannot buy in to the idea of, the job not making it possible for Canon to have a relationship. He continuously makes that case when literally all around him, they were people in relationships in the sport. It is just another version of a hooking up relationship and of course, at some point, they decide to not use condoms anymore. It is wince and repeat with this author, and I’m starting to think that she is not capable of doing a different type of book. She said that this series was going to have more substance than the ones before and I have not found that to be the case. Every book in the series has been seriously lacking and has basically been the same story over and over again. The Arizona vengeance was miles better. I am once again begging Sawyer Bennett to do a different story, then friends with benefits or some version of that.

Cannon and Ava

Cannon is the coach, and the youngest in the league, of the Titans. He is a widower and is focused on making sure his team is top notch. He has no time for anything else and at this point in his life he just doesn’t feel like he can give someone else a piece of himself. Cannon’s life is work and a little “play”. Cannon’s first meeting was something that stayed on his mind because she didn’t know who he was. He was intrigued with her but knew he couldn’t give what her she may wanted if he tried to move things along, but he could not waste the time to not have her.

Ava is a hard worker and learned the hard way trusting someone can be your downfall. The relationship she was in hurt in many ways but the way things ended showed her that giving her all could be okay but when things end, it could really hurt. She moved on and found a job that paid very little and refused to move back to her home town and work in the family business. She wanted to be more and do everything on her own. Cannon came in her life at a time that she just wasn’t who she wanted to be. She didn’t believe in herself as much as she once did or thought she did. She was fighting to make but that open fantastic night may have changed her mind slightly.

Can both Cannon and Ava figure out what will work for them? Can they see that the lifestyles each lead have made them into someone each of them wants? Will both of their pasts affect them? I enjoyed Cannon’s story and the narrators did a fantastic job bringing this story to life.

This series just gets better and better!!!

First, FREAKING PHENOMENAL!!!!!
Cannon is Book 6 in author Sawyer Bennett’s latest series, The Pittsburgh Titans. In my honest opinion, this series just keeps getting better and better. I am a “Yinzer” born and raised, and when I heard that author Sawyer Bennett was going to write a series located in Pittsburgh, I could not wait to get my eyes on it, and begin reading.
When you open this book and begin to read be ready for an emotional roller coaster ride, (Ms. Bennett is so extraordinary at writing these types of stories).
I love, Love, LOVE Cannon and Ava’s story. Although, there were a few times I wanted to reach into my Kindle and slap some sense into that man’s head!!! Don’t have time, my Aunt Edith’s donkey!!! I wanted to kick his donkey every single time he said and thought those words!! In my opinion, he was darn lucky Ava’s feelings were as strong as they were and did not give up on Cannon. I really loved watching these two irrevocably fall for each other.
I was gifted with my copy of this phenomenal book because of my love of romance, especially hockey romance, and for my thoughts and opinions of this book. I love this book so much, that since receiving my copy, I have read it cover to cover, and have listened to it twice. Yep, I have the audio of this book as well.
Speaking of audio… Stephen Dexter and Mackenzie Cartwright are the narrators of this book. They just absolutely brought this story to life for me. I could see the story in my mind while I was listening.
Reader, if you love a great romance, especially a hockey romance, then this book is definitely for you. Now, what are you waiting for? Go hit that purchase button from your favorite retailer. And, when you finish, give us your thoughts and opinion of the book. I am sure Ms. Bennett and others will appreciate your opinions as well.
Thank you for reading my review and have a great day!

Enjoyable

This was a sweet second chance romance with lots of dirty talk. The narration was good. My only criticism was all the technical coaching jargon I felt it was unnecessary and didn’t contribute to the story.

I think what Cannon has went through in his past was sad about losing his wife, however some things were brought to light on that aspect which was unexpected. I honestly didn't care for Ava too much. I'm not sure if she was the right type of person for Cannon. IMO. Pittsburgh Titans & Arizona Vengeance match up! I would have love more coaching scenes though.

Narrators did a great job.

Cannon!

The rebuilding of the Pittsburgh Titans is both heartbreaking and exciting. Sawyer Bennett knows how to tug on the heart strings and create a feeling of camaraderie that keeps me coming back for more. This book is Cannon's, one of the the youngest coaches in the league, fantastic at his job with an intuition like no other. But he does carry some emotional baggage that is hard to let go. But that does not stop him from asking out the assistant manager at his favorite coffee shop. Ava is beautiful and smart, but she doesn't think she is in the same league as the hockey coach. The undeniable chemistry is there though, and the understanding that this will never be serious is upfront. But Cannon can't help but give mixed signals. Now what is Ava to believe? There is more to their relationship? Should she get out before she gets hurt? Will he get over his past and move on? There is a lot of emotion packed in Cannon's story, but there is a lot of passion and extremely fun banter. The team is gelling, and I love seeing the women come together and friend Ava! It's a warm feeling of friendship. It's a great listen and a wonderful addition to the series.

Stephen Dexter and Mackenzie Cartwright are the perfect picks to tell Cannon and Ava's story. Dexter has a voice that is full of emotion, and he creates Cannon with a confidence that is believable. He also adds that feeling of fear and frustration as his feelings grow, making Cannon very real. Cartwright becomes Ava, letting her self assurance grow, gives the backtracking of what to believe with her hurt and then pours out the love. I enjoyed this team, they know how to tell a story and wrap me up in hours of entertainment.

Fabulous Story & Narration🎧 Riveting & Heartfelt!

The Pittsburgh Titans series has become one of my favorite series, each book is just as amazing as the other, all the books in the series stand on their own, but I recommend them all and enjoy them in order in order written. This sixth book brings us Cannon West and Ava Cavanaugh’s story, Cannon is the head coach of the Titans and he met Ava while grabbing coffee on his way to work. Both these characters have their own baggage to carry and inner demons to deal with. Ava came out of a nasty breakup with practically nothing, despite her family wanting her to come back home, she is determined to make it on her own and refuses to ask for help. She manages a local coffee shop, and it is enough to make ends meet. Cannon had been stopping at the same coffee shop and not just for the coffee but to see her, he finally gets his shot to spend time with her and the two hit it off. Cannon has commitment issues, but he is upfront with Ava, who is understanding and ok with keeping things casual between them. They enjoy each other’s company and learning more about each other, and see each other whenever they can, and before they know it feelings are involved, and it is no longer casual. When his past comes back to remind him of what that relationships and careers do not always mix, he grows distant and pushes Ava away. Ava is nothing like his late wife but he can not see past that and he is about to lose what could be an everlasting love. There is never a dull moment in his wonderfully written and plotted sports romance, the story hooked me in immediately, grabbing my attention and captivating the entire time. You could feel the emotions pour off the pages straight into your heart. Sawyer Bennett, thank you for another fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧 📚🎧And for the wonderful narration, Stephen Dexter and Mackenzie Cartwright were the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that fit that character’s persona and were believable in every role they played. Dexter’s Cannon was swoon worthy, and he grasped every side of his personality. Cartwright did the same for Ava, grasped her strength and determination too. Both were great performing the roles of the secondary characters too. These versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fantastic listen.
