Publisher's summary

Kate had no idea what she was letting herself in for when she answered the call that Monday morning. The brutal murder of Cameron Geffner started her along a trail more complex and shocking than any case she'd handled in her long career as a homicide detective. That and the turmoil in her personal life will test her skills and fortitude like never before.

This one is different

Overall, another great Kate book. At first glance Cameron, being a man, breaks with the pattern of Kate's books all having female names. Not used to the victim being male so it at first seems a little odd.

There is actually no one among all the suspects that is particularly likeable, so I would have been ok with any of them being guilty. In one way or another they are all at least a little sick. When the truth actually comes out, it is no great surprise, but still a satisfying conclusion.

The turmoil involving the Kate/Will relationship is actually a bit of a distraction. Not needed at all for this case, but essential for the continuation of the series.

As usual Renee Maxwell is the perfect narrator for this series. A think a change now would probably force me to stop listening.
