Publisher's Summary

"There are four basic reasons why someone commits murder. The first and most powerful is love. The second - equally powerful - is hate. Almost equally compelling is revenge. The fourth is profit. Money. When one family member kills another, one or more of them is almost always the motive, and the murders on Calypso Key were no exception." - Harry Starke

It was one of those beautiful, balmy days on Calypso Key in the US Virgin Islands. The sky was blue and a cool breeze was blowing in off the ocean as Harry and Amanda took their vows. All of their friends were there and all was well with the world...and then the sky fell. Harry draws the line at getting involved when the death of one of his father's friends intrudes upon his wedding day, until he finds out he owes the girl's father a debt he can never repay. And so he is dragged into an investigation of not just one murder, but two - and the wealthiest, most dysfunctional family he's ever met. The cast of characters includes a former Navy Seal - now a butler - a man up to his eyes in shady financial dealings, and the woman at the heart of it all, who was pushed to her death from a third-story balcony. Harry clears a few hours to enjoy the good life on Calypso Key, but as for the investigation...well, we all know that when Harry's involved, nothing is ever quite what it seems.

A Tropical Wedding, a Honeymoon and ... a Murder!

Review
Every book in this series has something new and fresh to offer the fans of the Harry Starke series and this one is no exception. Harry has gathered all those close to him, family, friends and employees and swept them off to a beautiful exotic location to witness his marriage to the beautiful Amanda. Of course, where Harry is concerned, trouble is always just around the corner ….

A murder, right there on the island and he has no choice but to give in to the plea for his help from the victims father. “But” bewails Harry “I’m on my honeymoon”. August, his father, explains to Harry that they both owe this man a huge debt of gratitude, when Harry learns the reason for this debt, he has no option but to help.
Suspects soon arise, and in what is a “locked room” mystery, albeit on an island, Harry must discover which one is the murderer - all without the benefits of specifically trained investigators and on the spot forensic amenities.
Come along and enjoy the ride, another great Harry Starke investigation from author Blair Howard.
Narrator
….and another great narration from Tom Lennon who never fails to deliver the goods. The voice, the delivery and the outstanding interpretation of the characters all combine to provide a wonderful, high quality listening experience

A Harry Who Dunnit! Keep on Jamming Mon...

Would you listen to Calypso again? Why?

Yes, actually I'm relistening right now.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Harry, and Kate, and Bob... and the slippery killer! Why? It's Harry Starke!

What does Tom Lennon bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Enthusiasm. The timing and drama of all great storytellers, Tom enjoys the Harry Starke books as a consumer. That comes across! The voice...

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did.

Any additional comments?

I've said this before in previous reviews: "I get immersed in each of the Harry Starke novels. Tom Lennon IS Harry Starke." I think you will be as impressed with all of Blair Howard's Harry Starke Audible editions.

I was gifted a copy of Calypso from Tom Lennon, the narrator extraordinaire. I am pleased to leave an honest review.

Now, back to listening! lol

this book had me sitting on the edge of my bed many times. I always try to guess who the killer is but, this one took me by surprises. I love these books and I'm thrilled I met Harry. He will be my night person for a long time..

Excellent

Obligation to the family. What about his wife, he just married, an a honeymoon. He was best friend of his dad he didn’t feel he should say no. A murderer has gotten away with it twice. Harry has a great team to back him. Greed and a dysfunctional family keep you guessing of who. Enjoyed the narration by Tom Lennon, his voice was good and added to the story. An entertaining island whodunit

Calypso is an entertaining whodunit that takes place during poor Harry’s tropical honeymoon, because, of course, the poor guy can’t get a break. There’s some pretty interesting characters in this one including a Butler who’s an ex Navy Seal and looks like Christopher Walken.

Recommended for mature readers due to sexual content.

The narrator for this book is the same one who does the rest of the series. He does a good job with the books.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Another well-written story from a very good author

Calypso (Harry Starke #8), my thirtieth read from author Blair Howard. Well-written and enjoyable, edge-of-your-seat thriller fiction, a genre I find myself leaning towards. I look forward to his next book no matter the main character. Up next is Without Remorse (Harry Starke #9). (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Not bad but not great

I think this was a case where the narrator took away from the story for me. Tom Lennon is not my favorite narrator and I found it tough to listen to the story. It was a basic murder mystery in a wealthy family where nobody is exactly how they seem. Not a bad story but not a great mystery for me.

A real poser!

Harry Starke does it again. Let's us in on the clues so we can try and figure it out but soooo many suspects! Holds your attention throughout.

Tom Lennon does a great job narrating.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Interesting story, definitely recommendef.

As with the other books in this series, I enjoyed the book from start to finish. The development of the plot was interesting and I have always enjoyed the expression of Starke's character. I missed the previous book but, even though I would have liked to have heard that first, it didn't affect the enjoyment of this book. Whole series are recommended.
