Publisher's Summary

Don't trust him. It wasn't me. It couldn't have been me.

Meet Evie, a young woman held captive by a man named Jim in the isolated New Zealand beach town of Maketu. Jim says he's hiding Evie to protect her, that she did something terrible back home in Melbourne.

In a house that creaks against the wind, Evie begins to piece together her fractured memories of the events that led her here.

Jim says he's keeping her safe. Evie's not sure she can trust Jim, but can she trust her own memories?

An incredible literary thriller for fans of best sellers such as Gone Girl, Before I Go to Sleep and Girl on the Train from an exciting new Australian voice.

Amazing thriller!

I loved this story, there are so many twists I didn’t see coming and the ending is very satisfying. A must listen.

Slow burn thriller

This is a fantastic novel that slowly and masterfully builds tension to the very satisfying climax. Got through it in two very long drives and wanted more.

Absolutely gripping

This starts off with so much mystery and suspense early on. I was a little bit confused and the it did go quite slow at times but I liked the way it built up and the tension kept growing. Then the conclusion was very entertaining and creepy. A great listen.

Loved it!

Such a great story with an ending I didn't see coming. Definitely worth a listen!

Note: Chapter 35 felt like something went wrong with the recording? Perhaps it was just me....

not quite there

the characters were weak. the late twists in the story line didn't do enough to pick it up.
