Publisher's Summary

When runaway Alberto Garcia breaks into the abandoned home, after being kicked out by his parents for being gay, he doesn't expect anyone to come home early. Certainly not a ruggedly handsome older cowboy.

Jake Sr., or Big Daddy as his friends and lovers call him, thinks he'll never love again after the heartache of his past. Then he meets Alberto.

Neither man expects to become close friends fast. Neither man expects that their age difference will bond them. And neither man expects to fall in love.

But there's a secret Alberto is hiding from the older man. Big Daddy is his best friend's dad.

Nope! Never again!

This is my second book by these authors and this narrator. This is a two-fold review....

One: The narrator did a better job on this one, but the editing was still sloppy. Too many repeated lines. But at least this time, there wasn't any coughing. That being said, I felt like the narrator was attempting to do something outside the scope of his range. It felt like he was over reaching and parts just fell flat.

Two: The story line had so much potential, but it was boring in parts. I skipped some, but the overall reason I'm giving this a 1 star is because as I listened, I heard something that really shook me. Big Daddy has HIV and instead of telling Alberto, he just threw on protection and got busy. Yeah, that is just wrong!

Older man, younger man

I hadn’t heard this narrator before but after adjusting the speed I really enjoyed his voice. The story between Big Daddy and Antonio was so sweet. BD had never came out to anyone before until he saw young and sweet Antonio. The only problem is that BD has a secret. One that can ruin Antonio’s life. Antonio has a secret too, although it’s only that Jake, BD’s son is his best friend. It’s a HEA story but has some angst too.

Didn’t like the narration

I think I’m simply not the audience for this book. I thought this was a gay romance but there’s no real romance or connection being built. The narration made it sound like an older man taking advantage of a kid in need. Alberto needed a roof over his head and stability a big daddy is a closeted homophobic man looking for a boy toy. It’s pretty hot but Didn’t give me true love feels.
