Caldera 2

I liked this book better than the first. I liked the narration. I think he has done a better job with the female voices. I received this audio book for free through Audiobook Boom for my unbiased review.

A great 2nd book

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I'm a huge Johnny Mack fan and really enjoyed book 1. So, I was quick to jump at the chance to give book 2 a listen. Like with book 1, this book felt a little unfinished. As it is similarly short, that stands to reason. If you want a quick, action packed and visceral zombie apocalypse story listen, you should give this series a shot.

A bit disappointed but it's a good story

I got the first book of this for a review a while ago and when i saw the book 2 for a review i HAD to get it. I was curious on what happened next. I got the book and as i started to listen i noticed something that made me soooo very disappointed. This book 2 of the series is actually the 2nd half of the first book that i already listed to and reviewed. They took the book i had listed to and reviewed and broke it into 2 books which i find to be not good at all!! the first book that i read left it as a "cliff hanger" or open to more books, but now the way that the books are broken i would have been very ticked and irritated to read/listen to them this way.
Ok.... The story: I really liked the story, i liked the characters, some were exactly like i think people would be, and other characters made choices that didn't seem to make sense. Like the dad and how he reacted and thought of his kids I was sooo hoping to get more of the story and see what happened to these characters.

The apocalypse continues.

Make sure you've read book 1 because Out of the Fire: Caldera Book 2 picks up right where the last book stopped. It's more a continuation of book one than a sequel because there is no recap of the original events or re-introduction of the characters, the action just picks up and keeps going. If you hadn't read the original or if it has been a long time since you'd read it you might be a bit confused, especially given how many characters there are in the story, but that really is my only major complaint. There is plenty of fast paced action as the apocalypse continues as our heroes struggling to survive. The ending was a surprise, and I have to say I'm interested to see where Mr. Stallcup takes the story from here.

No Volcanic Eruption Yet

This is part two of what is at least a three book series. Yellowstone sort of erupts with a virus that causes results similar to a zombie plague. Which is disappointing because I was hoping for a full blown eruption as well. I guess it wouldn't be too fair to the characters to have to deal with ash, lava and the living dead.
The characters are numerous and include the ubiquitous crazy military guy, doctor searching for a cure and good guys and gals caught in the middle. This definitely feels like a sequel and you'll be lost without reading book one. The book starts where the other left off and ends with no real conclusion which hopefully comes in book three.
Overall it was entertaining and introduces some new ideas and twists to the general zombie/pandemic/plague genre.
Johnny Mack does a good job of narration.

Action-packed continuation from book one!

The tale continues where it left off from the prior book. Our intrepid vacationers in the RV are still trying to avoid the infected while escaping from Yellowstone Park. Lucky the mom is still out-and-about in her birthday suit infecting people. The park rangers attempting to get a handle on the escalating situation as bad becomes worse. By now perhaps thousands of people are running through the park grounds; some running away in panic, other infected chasing them. The military is called for help to contain the chaos. Unfortunately the military’s idea to quell the panic is quite different than the park rangers. Stay tuned as the origin of the infection is revealed as well as the military’s role in it. Will our friends in the RV make it out of Yellowstone? The same goes for the front line park rangers; how many will survive? A great Zombie book

Great sequel, fast paced, lots of blood and gore just what you expect in a full on Zombie story.
Loved it just hoping there is more to come.
Lots of fun to listen too, narration is good and characters and accents all recognisable. Good audio quality and production.

Looks like a time jump is up ahead.....

Book two is just as action packed as book 1.
We lost a few beloved characters in this one but the story survives!
Military makes a dire brash decision and things are about to get ugly everywhere.....not just in Yellowstone. Egos are a funny thing.
Can’t wait to see where this story goes.
Johnny Mack did a great job narrating this one as well.
