Good story, had trouble with the performance.

The book and story were pretty good. It's the first I've read, even though it's #10 in the series. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. I had more trouble with the performance. There was something about the voice of the narrator. I tried different speeds but just couldn't get into the performance. It was more like a grade-school teacher reading a book out loud to a classroom that they'd never read before. It had odd inflections and pauses. I had a hard time enjoying the story that way. I wound up getting the story in eform and reading it myself. That is how I know I enjoyed the storyline. I've not listened to anything by this narrator before. I'll have to give them another try. If that doesn't work - then I'll have to pass on this narrator in the future.

Well read

This cozy mystery was read well. There were a couple of times the sound got a little tinny, but otherwise, it was very well done.
While the story is number 10 in a series, I found it was quite easy to follow as a stand-alone. The characters are quirky and believable. I recommend this story!

Fun Baking Show Cozy Mystery

The story: I really enjoy this series, and this book was no exception. Donna is a hoot, and although she is a little brusque, she certainly manages to provide some drama, some laughs, and solve the case! Her reactions to what the producers try to do to her appearance are hilarious! Highly recommend this book.

The performance: I did not care for the voice of the narrator; however, I could overlook that. The issue I had was that it did not feel like a performance, it felt like someone just reading the book out loud, and many times it seemed like they had never read the book before. Things like inflections on odd words and pauses where it seemed that the reader felt like the sentence was over only to find that it wasn't, kept me from fully enjoying the audible version of this book.

I was given a copy of this audiobook to review.

Skillfully written

A “reality” baking show comes to town and Donna is in the thick of things. When the body of one of her B&B guests is found at the baking show, she knows she must help police find the killer. This cozy mystery is skillfully written with a tight plot and a satisfying conclusion. I enjoyed this audiobook and am looking forward to more from this author. I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook and chose to write a voluntary, unbiased review.

More murder and shenanigans at the Painted Lady Inn

A film production group comes to Legacy to shoot a baking competition show loosely based on Donna‘s favorite British bake off.
What starts as an opportunity for free advertising for the Painted Lady Inn, quickly turns in to a search for a murderer, when one of the contestants turns up dead.
Donna’s baking prowess gives her a chance to snoop, but between managing the Inn, dealing with staff and family nonsense, and the pressures of the competition, will she solve the mystery before everything implodes?
I thoroughly enjoyed this audible book! I’ve usually read MK Scott’s books, so listening was different for me. The narrator did a great job capturing the characters and made it fun to listen to.

Enjoyable read/listen

Cakewalk to Murder (The Painted Lady Inn Mysteries Book 10), my first read from author M.K. Scott. I own seven of this author’s books and after reading this one all I’m on a mission to read all the ones I already own and see where I go from there. “I received a free Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018.

entertaining and fun

This was an entertaining cozy murder mystery story with likeable main characters. Donna is determined to be in the baking contest show and gets her chance when a contestant is found dead. There are several quirky characters and a few twists occurring in solving the mystery. I listened to the audible version. The narrator did a very good job.
