Critic reviews

'[Upfield's novels] were much admired for their depiction of the harsh but beautiful Australian landscape.' (The Sydney Morning Herald)
'Arthur Upfield has an extraordinary gift... he has created a character who steps alive off the page.' (The Times Literary Supplement)

This book doesn’t have the focus on Bony’s racial makeup that other books have had. The mystery is good and the story moves at a good pace. The narration is wonderful.

Love it

Narration: excellent in every way.

Story: interesting. I especially like author’s respect for aboriginal justice. It is also interesting to learn of different rates with which different aboriginal communities assimilated into white culture.

As usual for upfield, good.
