Publisher's Summary

One love. One destiny. But it only takes one person to bring the house of cards tumbling down.

Seventeen years ago, Fitz Quinn stole the heart of Cadence Riley. He took her innocence, then left her broken. When a twist of fate brings them back together again, she quickly learns that even time couldn’t dim their chemistry. Fitz was sexier than ever - successful and provocative. He became the man she always knew he would be, and the heat between them quickly became unbearable. Despite the promise she made to herself, she felt the walls to her heart start to crumble and began to fall all over again.

However, things aren’t the same as they once were. Cadence is the driving force behind a nonprofit organization where she handles each case with the determination of a shark. Fitz is known as Washington’s fixer. He is the CEO for a public relations firm - one that represents the politicians who fight against everything Cadence stands for. What do they say about opposites attract?

Finding themselves at a crossroads, Fitz needs to decide if going against his father is worth pursuing a second chance with Cadence. One wrong move and his reputation could be obliterated. For Cadence, she needs to let go of her secrets and forgive Fitz for leaving her alone all those years ago. But more importantly, she needs to decide if sacrificing her values is worth being with the only man she has ever loved.

Heartwarming and a true love story

This is part 2 of the Cadence series and takes us 17 years ahead of where we left Cadence and Fitz. They are now adults and have gone on with their lives. This story is full of secrets and longing. No spoilers here. It’s a great story and I loved it all.

Dakota Willink did a great job of showing every angle of these characters. Lacy and Zachary were perfect narrators. Totally believable.

I received a code from Audiobook Obsession to listen and review and give my honest opinion. I loved it and highly recommend it.

This is a very unique story. You must have read Cadence Untouched before this one. It talks about Fitz's and Cadence's back story. And cadence defined is 17 years later. I think it's been awhile since Ive read something like this before so it was a refresher. I loved some of the hidden and unexpected surprises we got in this story. The narrators were great.

Sometimes we carry the past with us.

Honestly I loved this book from the author’s note on. There is angst, a second chance romance, secrets, action, steamy romps, social justice (without being preachy) and a complicated past. You know you’re intrigued. Listen to the book already. And if none of that is enough you have the swoon worthy voice of Zachary Webber as Fitz. There are a few moments towards the end where he sounds like he is going through a tunnel or the performance would also be 5 stars for me. Lacy Laurel knocked it out of the park as Cadence! I’m new to this author but really excited to check out more of her work.

Loved it!!

Audiobook version:

After reading book 1- I was left feeling sad, angry and betrayed on Cadence's behalf. Going into book 2, I had an open mind and was willing to forgive Fitz. It didn't take long for him to worm his way back into my good graces. The characters went through an amazing change between book 1 and 2 however with 17 years separating the books, you would expect that. The characters have grown, matured and lived- Defining who they were as adults.

I have a hard time with 2nd chance romances as I always feel a sense of loss when I look at how much time was wasted apart. I was absolutely sucked into this story and lived the ups and downs right along with them. I was very proud of the man Fitz became and feel bad for all the mean thoughts I may have mentally yelled at him after book 1.

The narration was spot on. Lacy and Zachary gave amazing performances and truly brought the characters to life.

This was a fabulous story from start to finish and all the stops in between.

Great Read

Cadence Defined: Cadence Duet, Book Two was another great read by Dakota Willink. Fitz and Cadence fell in love seventeen years ago. Unfortunately, it seemed as if life kept pulling them apart. Now they each have careers and children. A twist of fate brings them both together but Cadence is scarped to move forward. Cadence has a secret that can end things before they even begin. I loved this book and can't wait to read more by Dakota Willink.

Yes!! Love it!!

Sigh… what a beautiful duet! The conclusion to the Cadence Duet is stunning. I loved the first audiobook. This second one is just as strong. It’s a story of love that it’s spread out over years, nearly decades. So the first book we get to meet Fitz and Cadence as new age adults, fresh out of high school and preparing for college. I seriously swoon hard over young and new love. You know what happens, life happens, they are pulled apart with life pulling them toward their dreams, their lives.

Cadence was always a strong, young lady but I adore the woman she’s grown into. She’s still a woman that knows what she wants and getting it. Fitz, oh Fitz, he’s been wrapped up in his daddy’s tentacles for decades. Now we get Fitz the man, Fitz standing on his own two legs! Eeek… I was thrilled! We might have some amazing and incredibly strong characters but that doesn’t mean Cadence Defined is a walk in the park. Oh no, we still have so much pain. This is a story of growth and love over years. It’s a great listen!

The narrators, Zachary Webber and Lacy Laurel, are amazing together! I always get sucked into the male charisma that is Webber’s voice. He’s like silk. Laurel is pure sexuality. I just love her voice. It always bring the emotional state to the stories she’s narrating!

Couldn't be more perfect!

Seriously, this book could not have been more perfect in any way! It has everything you could ask for in a romance. The characters with their off the charts chemistry, the drama that you cant help but get wrapped up in, and the bombs that never seem to stop dropping! Once I finished this book, I sat just staring off into space for far longer than I would like to admit and tried to process everything that I just read. This story, hell this duet, will definitely stick with me for a very long time and I know I will be returning to the world of Cadence and Fitz as often as I can.

The narration was off the charts amazing! There are no words to describe the work that Lacy and Zach did with this audio!

Dakota Willink did this!!

I love this duet! When I finished Cadence Untouched, I had no idea how the second book was going to make this work! But Dakota Willink is a genius! I am in awe of her writing style, her creativity, and her ability to drag me into the story and want to rush to find out what’s going to happen, but hoping it goes in and in because you don’t want it to end! This book did that for me! I loved this continuation of the story of Cadence and Fitz! How they find out they’re both in the same place gave me pause for a few!

Zachary Webber and Lacy Laurel made these characters come to life! I love listening to both of them!

The keeper of my heart

I cannot imagine a better way of this wonderful duet to end. I was so eager to get my hands... or ears... on this book, ever since finishing Cadence Untouched, I needed to know what was going to happen.
Once I started it, it was hard to put it down, once again it trapped me from me the begging leaving no room for other things but to listen and listen until the very end.
Everything happens for a reason and I think that's exactly the case with Cadence and Fitz, and as hard as their journey to achieve their happiness was, I think it was all worth it. The stars aligned and suddenly everything started falling into place for Cadance and Fitz.
The whole book was great, but the ending, the lake, the origami paper, and Fitz words, that was EVERYTHING!

Finally but not least important, the magnificent narrattion by both Zachary Webber and Lacy Laurel. They both did so incredibly well, the pace, cadence, and the way they both can portrayed the emotions of the characters, made this book really amazing and so enjoyable.

Amazing Story & Conclusion to the Cadence Duet!

Dakota Willink put a lot of heart in to the Cadence Duet, you feel it throughout. Both books captivated my attention from start to end. Fitz and Cadence story begins in “Cadence Untouched”, it is a story of first love. Life and circumstances take them on different paths and they do not see each other for 17 years and in “Cadence Defined” Cadence and Fitz meet again. The chemistry between them continues to sizzle. They were each other’s first love, a love that never died and no one else could match. But will love prevail because nothing is easy, there is baggage, difference of options and most of all secrets. I loved that Cadence grew in to a strong and independent woman. She stayed true to herself followed her dreams in her career while juggling everything life thew at her. I also love that Fitz is finally standing up for himself against his manipulative father. This story is another emotional one, it is so much more than a second chance love, it about letting go, learning to trust and forgive, learning to live again. The road to Candace and Fitz’s happiness may have been paved with heartache and tears but in the end love prevailed. Dakota Willink thank you for this beautiful duet. I love your creative mind and ability to write and share these wonderful stories.

I listened to the Audible edition, Zachary Webber and Lacy Laurel are awesome narrators and voice performers. They bring the characters to life and give them heart and personality. They add a nice dramatic touch which enhances an already great story another level. They are talented storytellers and are always a pleasure to listen to.

Fitz & Cadence

What a story! Dakota Willink picks up 17 years after Cadence Untouched and gets us right into the hearts of Fitz and Cadence. Each has gone on with their lives, but never got over the love they shared. Now seeing each other again, will they be able to recapture that feeling? And will the secrets kept destroy their future? I truly enjoyed the journey of Cadence. She is a strong female, full of compassion and love. Her choice of career shows her true colors and lets them shine. I love how Willink has captured Fitz. He is stepping up to his overbearing father and finding that his voice needs to be heard. Together, these two have incredible insight to people, and their chemistry together is off the charts. It's a great story of forgiveness, love and hope. This duet is wonderful.

Lacy Laurel and Zachary Webber bring these two to life. It's a book full of emotions, and both give it their all. It makes you feel the hurt, anger and love, just by the inflections and voicing Lacy and Zach portray. I was pulled in and these two kept me interested and fully invested to see what would happen to Cadence and Fitz.

Fantastic conculusion

This duet is a pleasant surprise for me. I hadn't known this author's work prior to listening.

Cadence Define picks up 17 years later. YOU need to read or listen to book one first.

I loved seeing how Fitz and Cadence have grown into their own in the past 17 years.  When they last were together at camp their ending was not as we had hoped. Life, responsibility, and family stopped these two from continuing their love affair.

Fast forward and Cadence has become a strong-willed woman who is running a non-profit and Fitz is about to embark on a political career (being forced upon him by his father).  These two have a run in and the sparks immediately fly and wow...it's so beautiful see these two together now, but there are still many obstacles they need to overcome.  From their pasts to the present political culture that could derail their relationship before it even begins.

Many secrets come to light and they both need to figure out how to make their lives intertwine once again!

I enjoyed the narration, as Zachary Weber is one of my favorite narrators and Lacy Laurel gave Cadence a voice with the passion that she so deserved.

This beautiful story will stay with me forever

This was such a beautiful, heart warming story about two people pulled apart by circumstances and getting a second chance to make a go of it. I loved the characters from the first story and I felt so much for Cadence and Fitz, life just kept putting barriers in their way. It was great to get a bit more of Joy in this story and I loved the political edge in this, there was just enough with a balance to the romance to keep it current and interesting. The excitement in the story towards the end was a surprise and I felt really added that something extra that was needed. The narrators were great as usual and you really felt the emotions through their story telling. There are some love stories that stay with you for a long time and Cadence and Fitz will be with me forever! #AudiobookObsession

Second chances

This being the second book in the duet you really need to listen to book one to get the full gist of this book. I overall did enjoy this story and only gave it 4 stars because I would have liked more drama/ suspense. This story takes place almost 20 years into the future. Again the think the narrator did a great job and made it an enjoyable listen.

Cadence Defined

Cadence Defined is the conclusion to Cadence Untouched. I loved Cadence & Fitz's story. Unique in many ways, but a solid and well used theme in others. I didn't like that it was 17 years before they meet again, especially since Bethany (the reason they couldn't be together before) has been gone for 11 of those years. I feel like it was a waste of time they could have had, especially time Fitz could have has with his daughter, and also time that Austin could have had a mother figure in his life. Overall it was a great story with a lot of important issues touched on without going overboard.

The audio performance was very well done, I hadn't heard narrations from Zachary Webber and Lacy Laurel until this duet but their narration was impressive.

Cadence & Fitz meet at summer camp and fall in love, but Fitz must return home at the end of the summer and marry the daughter of one of his father's friends. Cadence knows that they only have that summer, and when she finds out she's pregnant after Fitz's wedding she chooses to hide their baby Kallie from him. 17 years later, Fitz's wife has passed away, and Cadence meets his 15 year old son Austin when he picks Kallie up for the prom, and now that summer is coming back at her in every way it can and its time to tell Fitz he has a daughter.

Enjoyable...

This was a great listen.
The theme with the political views and issues is up with current events but it doesn't bog down into politics.
There was just the right amount to make the character's views clear.
I enjoyed the story and the narrators, specially the male narrator.
Zachary Webber does a great job as always.
