Publisher's summary

Become the CSO - the Chief Story Officer - in your personal life and for your company.

A great CSO - Chief Story Officer:

  • Knows how to discover and share their personal story
  • Walks through the fear and digs deep to share meaningful stories
  • Recognizes the power of showing authenticity
  • Does not expect perfection
  • Never judges another's personal story or insights
  • Enjoys a much more enlightened and connected existence
  • Leads by example in their private life and for the company

From living-room story sessions with Steven Spielberg to the board rooms of the most powerful companies in the world such as Apple, The Walt Disney Company, and MetLife, Rodney Henson shares with you the power of personal stories and how they can connect you with people in a more authentic and life-changing way than you could ever imagine.

In this social-media frenzied world every individual and company needs a CSO - a Chief Story Officer. People and companies today are losing their ability to connect with others in meaningful, authentic ways. Visit any shopping mall, college campus, or city park, and what do you see? People are focused on their smartphones. They are zombies walking around with their heads down, staring at their screens, bumping into other zombies, but never engaging in conversation.

People have been drawn away from communicating through conversation. We are quickly becoming conduits in just another social distribution channel, ingesting and regurgitating others' links and tweets and shares, and then shutting down without any authentic connection between human beings with souls and emotions. Sadly, our world has settled into this.

It's time to wake up all the zombies. It's time to start becoming authentic, connected human beings.

Everybody has an interesting story to tell...

What does Rodney Henson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He does an excellent job narrating it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes

Any additional comments?

So many different and very interesting personal, funny and uplifting, stories.

It was fun to listen to all the different accounts of peoples daily events. Especially the ones they don't think might be significant. After a couple of the stories, that I related to, I would say, "Well, that's nice, I am not the only one this has happened to."

It has made me look at life differently, when meeting people. I find myself wanting to hear what their story is, and hear how they handled their situations.

Thanks Mr. Henson for your insight and well told stories. It made me think, and helped me want to improve, and enhance my own life, by applying the information that you have given me, in this very well (self help) written book.

This is a book I will listen to again and again. I indeed give it a 5 star rating.....

Rich in experience!

Loved every section. The personal stories were intriguing. Very motivational! Even though I don't see myself using this professionally I am going to use it to reach my next personal goals in writing and starting a hobby business with my husband.
