Compelling and Enlightening Book!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I respect the Author's candor and realness on the lessons she learned about life and horses. As an Equestrian I learn something new every time I ride or am dealing with horses. It's a life-long learning experience. The story drew me in and would not let me go until it was over. It left me wanting more! Great book. Inspiring, Compelling, Enlightening, Funny, and Real.

Humor, faith and heartache capture this memoir

Life is not perfect, but there are lessons to be learned from our mistakes. Cody does not mask or embellish the error of our ways, rather shares from the depths of experience as an urbanite greenhorn who was never exposed to horses. The vast truths revealed in these experiences are rich and deep. Some are unable to grasp life's realities as opportunities to grow, while others bloom from someone else's trials and victories.

Story of irresponsible horse ownership

This was an engaging enough story until the author and another rider and their horses end up in a thunderstorm, and in her haste to escape that threat, the author is incomprehensibly and repeatedly irresponsible toward her horse, resulting in a potentially fatal situation. There are a lot of rookie mistakes, but anyone who loves animals would check on the animal before eating lunch. There are many other similar issues. I join her in thanking God for the outcome, but I can't fathom or stomach the layers of carelessness that led to the tragedy. The narrator was great - easy to listen to, like sitting with a friend.
