Publisher's Summary

An underpaid, overworked certified flight instructor cheats death while attempting to teach a cast of incompetent student pilots to fly at a skeezy South Florida flight school; all in the quest to build flight time so he can get a “real job” at an airline. The planes break, the regs break, metal gets bent, students are lost at sea, and a Top Gun wannabe student, who has 400 hours of flight instruction, still hasn’t made his first solo flight.

CFI!: The Book is an over-the-top satirical aviation comedy that’s loosely based on real-world experiences of flight instruction, but if the FAA asks, this is all strictly fictional.

Entertaining and Funny

I was laughing so hard I crashed my car. Totally worth it. Highly recommend to anyone (the book, not crashing your car).

greed kills

This is SO much fun! If you love aviation, this will make you wish you had worn a flight diaper, as you pee yourself laughing! Naturally, the two things I have most wanted to do for a living in my life, are the two worst-paid, highly skilled and educated professions. If you do not know about this, or have any interest at all in aviation lore, I cannot highly enough recommend this hilarious book! It is nice that sad and terrible things can be so funny, after the fact, and particularly in abstract. Thank goodness... well, I guess I had better not say, as that would be a spoiler, but you will be thankful for it as well, once you read this title. Now I must read Hauling Checks. :)

Loved it!

There's something magical about this book, CFI, in its compactness and in its humility. Maybe it's my (and your) longstanding and unfulfilled dream of becoming a pilot. But the magic is due to something a bit more than just our deferred dream. I think the magic comes from the self-deprecation. In a profession that cloaks itself in arrogance and self-righteousness, Alex Stone pulls back the curtain on an unglamorous and fallible job. It takes some courage to tell the truth, especially to the detriment of one's own sacred cow profession. For that reason, I didn't just enjoy the read: I loved this book.

Finished in 3 days I was hooked right away!!

Excellent book, I'm very skeptical on purchasing books and they let me down, but not this one. From start to finish I enjoyed every moment of it and I highly recommend this to people in the industry.

Very funny.

If you know about flight school operations, it’ll light up your day. Narrator mastered the narration just as the writer wrote it humorously.

Book was hilarious.

As a student pilot at a decent school, I can't relate. But, I can see how this "fiction" book could very true.

Fun and silly

I enjoyed listening to some overly exaggerated comedic views on student pilots, whilst being gripped by the writers energy and story telling.
I really recommend a listen through audibles 1 credit a month scheme.

Funny at times, but overly exaggerated

This book could be a nice insight into reality of young flight instructors and many thing the author talks about do happen. At the same time, the things so exaggerated and hyperbolised for the sake of comedy, that become just complete b.s.. Stopped listening after chapter 4.
