Publisher's summary

It’s true. I’m not what most people would call “pretty” and, well, high school was rough. Fast forward ten years and life is good....

Until a bunch of jerks think it’s hilarious to put the “butterface” (AKA me) on a wedding Kiss Cam with the hottest guy ever - and that old humiliation hits hard.

I recognize him immediately. The hottest cop in Waterbury and totally out of my league.

But then he kisses me.

And we totally forget the room, the crowd, everything.

Then he tells everyone we’ve been dating for months.

Soon everything starts to feel too real, from adorable fights over “necessary” tools to fix my broken porch to surviving a free-for-all dinner with his six siblings to picking up where our last kiss left off.

But there’s something he’s not telling me about why he’s really hanging around, and I’m pretty sure it has to do with my mob-connected brothers.

Because this is not a make-over story, and Cinderella is only a fairy tale....

Nope

Story was good. Liked the character development but the explicit sex descriptions I could do without. The language in those scenes was pedestrian porn only made worse by the breathy female narrator- who by the end of the book, tried reading the zip code in an equally provocative manner.
Not my thing.

good book

I don't understand why this book has got such low stars. most reviews talk about how it mentions how ugly she is too much but that's the point of the story. a woman that isn't attractive by societies standards finding a man who thinks she's beautiful and perfect as is. I enjoyed this book.

Insecure much?

Enjoyed the basic premise of the book. But the constant "ugly" comments mixed throughout made you wonder HOW UGLY can she really be. Men normally aren't as shallow as his fellow cops appeared to be. They normally pick up on a hot bod and wouldn't even focus on the face. So their constant comments "paper bag," "taking one for the team" ..etc.. were tough to keep hearing. Surely they wouldn't be dense enough to not realize he had real feelings for her after the room set up and the punching in the squad room to a superior officer by a Uber Rule Follower.
Also, she lived her normal life w/o the insecurities... i.e. wedding planner, restoring Victorian home. Good career, Good Home, Loving family (not on the up and up / but they loved her), Girl Tribe of friends. She had everything going for her and really didn't seem to have insecurities except in the "man" department. Which I think a LOT of women can relate to.
I fast forwarded thru most of the sex scenes which eliminated a good portion of the audio.
I would have preferred to hear them compare families after they met them, like they said they would. Explore more of each others worlds. Find more comedy in their lives than the heavy sex scenes.

Romantic and Relatable

Flynn delivers laughs and romance it this wonderful tale of conflicting ideologies. In order to be together, both characters have to face some difficult truths. The heroine is utterly relatable, grounding the story in a way that makes it all seem more real.

Just OK

The story was not exactly credible. The way the author describes people’s reaction to the main character you would think she looks like Quasimodo. Also, while it’s common for authors of series to gently introduce characters for their upcoming books this writer didn’t miss an opportunity to shamelessly promote the Ice Knights series by excessively mentioning the hockey team throughout the story. The premise of the story is cute but the author does a poor job of developing her characters.

good story

a good story but to much explicit sex. a good story does not need explicit sex to make it good

Love/hate

I like the story, but I thought it would be more of an ugly duckling type of story…it’s not, it’s more about loving yourself to then allow others to love you.
