Publisher's Summary

I believe that when it comes to women and work, there isn't one right answer. The only person who can create a life you'll love is you.

Our grandmothers fought for the right to work. Our mothers fought for the choice to be in an office or to stay at home. Our generation is the first to fully embrace and celebrate the fact that our lives are multidimensional. Thanks to the women who came before us and paved the way, we can create the lives we want to lead - which look different for each of us.

I've been fortunate to be able to build my career around my passions, from real estate to fashion. But my professional titles only begin to describe who I am and what I value. I have been an executive and an entrepreneur, but also - and just as importantly - a wife, mother, daughter, and friend. To me, "work" encompasses my efforts to succeed in all of these areas.

After appearing on The Apprentice years ago and receiving a flood of letters from young women asking for guidance, I realized the need for more female leaders to speak out publicly in order to change the way society thinks and talks about "women who work". So I created a forum to do just that. This book evolves the conversation that started on IvankaTrump.com, where so many incredible women (and men!) have shared their experiences, advice, ambitions, and passions.

Women who work lead meetings and train for marathons. We learn how to cook and how to code. We inspire our employees and our children. We innovate at our current jobs and start new businesses.

Women Who Work will equip you with the best skills I've learned from some of the amazing people I've met, on subjects such as identifying opportunities, shifting careers smoothly, negotiating, leading teams, starting companies, managing work and family, and helping change the system to make it better for women - now and in the future. I hope it will inspire you to redefine success and architect a life that honors your individual passions and priorities, in a way only you can.

only for those who already have great careers

good ideas for middle management or better, but for us cube-dwellers in dead end jobs... not much here.

For privileged women

As she had some great points it was more geared towards women who run companies with a nanny, cook and maid. As she had some great points and I feel like I can relate since I have children, work full time and buying a company. I believe it's almost a dream entrepreneur lifestyle instead of the common reality.

Ghostwriter

Totally disappointing. Pretty surface and you can sniff out that she didn't write this or if she did she is one boring girl. Who gave this the green light?

Enjoyed this book.

I came back to this book after a slow start discouraged me. Glad I did. Enjoyable.

Good

I unfortunately had to return the audible copy. I believe they tried to find a narrator that has a similar tone of voice to Ivanka- soft. Though the narrator did that at parts, she often started to sound "robotic" in a way and it made it hard for me to get into the book. I purchased a physical copy and found many topics and points valuable that I will definitely put into play in my own career.

Balanced and honest review here.

What did you like best about Women Who Work? What did you like least?

Some of Ivanka's personal stories give a nice flavor and background to her and to the book respectively. I would have liked more personal stories interwoven with the lessons learned from the masters of the business. Overall this was not good enough to make it stand out.

If you’ve listened to books by Ivanka Trump before, how does this one compare?

I have not.

Have you listened to any of Kathleen McInerney and Ivanka Trump ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Kathleen does fine she carried the "story" for me. I do think Ivanka should have narrated the whole thing.

Could you see Women Who Work being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No.

Any additional comments?

Full spirit of disclosure. I like Trump and I think he is doing good for this country. I have also bought a satirical magazine of Trump. So I like the man and I can laugh at him as well.
If you are looking for inspiration there is just not enough here. A few good tidbits, but not enough of a desert to make a whole meal.

Sorry, I cannot give this more then 3 stars for the content.

The Women Who Work

I absolutely love this book. Very inspiring and empowering. It makes me feel tall and strong to face my work and life. I have learned many insightful tips from the book. “Lead with grace. Prove smart is sexy... Dream and do” becomes my daily mantra. Thank you, Ivanka!

Well researched and practical

I am buying this book in print so I can reference all the topic over and over again. I couldn’t stop listening to all this information. Highly recommend this for a woman who works.

Geared toward a select few

While this was a very well written book with some advice here and there that anybody could pull from, this book is geared more toward the high powered executive woman. This book doesn't really speak to the clerk, the school teacher, or any other blue collar women. In the same token I understand Ms. Trump has lived a privileged life, not without its own struggles, but out of touch with the everyday women that make up a majority of the work force. I respect her as a working mother, but then again realize she has many resources available to her that most women do not. While helpful to some, this book just wasn't for me. Well written, thought out and organized for the executive female leaders in executive positions.
