A Story About Positive Ways to Turn Complaints Into Solutions, Innovations, and Success

Every complaint represents an opportunity to turn something negative into a positive!

It's Tuesday morning and Hope walks into her office with puffy eyes, a swollen head, and a broken heart. But unfortunately, her company - EZ Tech - is in worse shape than she is.

The fact that their computer batteries are catching on fire is the least of their problems. Employees have been posting negative comments about management on blogs for the world to see, the media is attacking the credibility of the company, morale is at an all-time low, negativity is at an all-time high, and the stock price is sinking faster than the Titanic. As VP of human resources, Hope is charged with finding a solution to overcome the biggest challenge in her company's history.

In the process of battling her own adversity, she discovers the no complaining rule and other positive ways to save her company and herself from ruin.

In the spirit of his international best seller, The Energy Bus, Jon Gordon once again shares an inspiring and enlightening story that reveals a powerful way to tackle the biggest problem in business and life - the negativity that costs organizations billions of dollars and impacts the morale, productivity, and health of individuals and teams.

For managers, team leaders, or anyone looking to turn negative energy into positive solutions, The No Complaining Rule shares powerful principles and an actionable plan to win the battle against individual and organizational negativity. When you implement the no complaining rule, you'll spend less time and energy on problems and more time focused on solutions.

Cute story about turning your life around

Would you listen to The No Complaining Rule again? Why?

This book brings home what it means to be positive and to create success through positive thinking. Solution-focused people (instead of problem-focused) tend to succeed more often. They are also a lot nicer to be around.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The No Complaining Rule?

Watching the turn around in her relationships. I also liked how her desire to learn gave her energy.

Life Changing

This book shows the difference between complaints and problems. How to fix them and make a great team. We are using this No Complaining rule for the next year at our middle school. To make an environment of learning and safety there needs to be positivity and now we have the proper steps to accomplish this. Thank you Jon Gordon!

It’s a very helpful and inspiring book to read!

It’s a bookstore recommend by my company. I really liked it as I read through the contents. The stories in the book are so vivid and they reflected a lot of situations in our own daily life. With the No Complaining Rule Guidance, we will start thinking positively and from different perspectives of views about our problems in life. We will starting thinking about solutions and plans than just mindless complaining which doesn’t help the situation at all. I learned a lot from this book and I will apply the rule in my own work and life. Let’s live with gratitude and let’s think positively together!

Change my attitude about complaining

I didn’t realize how much complaining brings about negativity in my life. I was driving home and realized when I wasn’t complaining about traffic I was happier

A Great Message!

Gordon offers an inspiring message and all the tools necessary to turn a negative corporate culture into a solution oriented environment. It applies as well to our family, and even our sports teams. Negative thoughts lead to negative actions, and in today's economy, we all need to find the positive.

Good advice in theory

I listened to this after searching for good advice on handling workplace stress and staying positive in the workplace. I like that the whole book centers around the character "Hope" with one storyline. This makes it interesting and easy to follow. I sped the book up to save time and finished in one evening, so not too long of a book. Not sure if everyone would be willing to follow the "no complaining rule" in my workplace but I plan to start right away. I'm sure it will make a difference for me and hopefully I can lead by example at least.
