Publisher's Summary

Previously unpublished talks from the Father of Modern Management

Throughout his professional life, Peter F. Drucker inspired millions of business leaders not only through his famous writings but also through his lectures and keynotes. These speeches contained some of his most valuable insights, but had never been published in book form - until now.

The Drucker Lectures features more than 30 talks from one of management's most important figures. Drawn from the Drucker Archives at the Drucker Institute at Claremont Graduate University, the lectures showcase Drucker's wisdom, wit, profundity, and prescience on such topics as:

  • Politics and economics of the environment
  • Knowledge workers and the Knowledge Society
  • Computer and information literacy
  • Managing nonprofit organizations
  • Globalization

During his life, Drucker well understood that over the last 150 years the world had become a society of large institutions - and that they would only become larger and more powerful. He contended that unless these institutions were effectively managed and ethically led, the good health of society as a whole would be in peril. His prediction is unfolding before our eyes.

The Drucker Lectures is a timely, instructive book proving that responsible behavior and good business can, in fact, exist hand in hand.

Foundational

The book is like an entire MBA lecture series in a day. You get to feel the foundation of management as a science being built over years.

Nice material, little structure

This book gives a good overview of Drucker's thoughts and the evolution of work throughout the last century. It does not however provide a structured idea or logical conclusion.
As a biography/bibliography it is a fantastic listen though.

Will work if you go back in 1900.

Predictions, that are realized at least 40 years, by this date.
A lot of people glorify Peter Drucker, and I see and understand why, and I have a lot of respect for this man, but life flowing and "show must go on", so thank you, Peter, but your work is outdated, for today, and it's extremly good, that everything evolve this fast, and we evolving much faster, that any predictions of the past can go.
PS: I heard extremly small amount of information on the actual managment. Maybe I have to try different book.

amazing series

When the narrator takes on the character of the author, I always enjoy the book more (which happened in this work). Later seminar content is directly applicable today, earlier work can be contextualized. Glad I listened to them all!
