Publisher's summary

With a unique combination of ancient and contemporary wisdom from Tibetan Buddhism, The Diamond Cutter presents readers with empowering strategies for success in their personal and professional lives. The book is presented in three layers. The first is a translation of The Diamond Sutra, an ancient text of conversations between the Buddha and his close disciple Subhuti. The second contains quotes from some of the best commentaries in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. And the third layer, the main text, is the practical application of Buddhist philosophies to the world of business, based upon Geshe Michael Roach's 17-years of experience as an employee of the Andin International Diamond Corporation, a company that grew during his tenure from four employees to a world leader in the jewelry industry.

Roach's easy style and spiritual understanding make The Diamond Cutter an invaluable source of timeless wisdom for those familiar or unfamiliar with Tibetan Buddhism. His focus on practical personal and business applications has resonated with and changed the lives of hundreds of thousands of individuals the world over since its original publication.

Very rich book that opens up your perspective.

This is a book you must dedicate time in understanding. You can't read or hear it just once. If you are considering getting into this book, get ready to make a commitment to growth and self improvement and to studying these principles mentioned, otherwise it is a waste of your time. I recommend it but do keep in mind that you will never be the same. Even if you are only willing to open your mind just a little bit.

amazing way to understand our life and business

look at things as they are, not as you are, and you'll understand emptiness.

I require to listen to it more than once to really understand it, but it changes the way I look at things even now.

Needs professional reader

The writer does his book a disservice through self narration. His voice is very flat and monotone. He often pauses at the wrong point in the sentence, makes digesting new concepts even more difficult. But I think material is good. Perhaps I'll buy the book in pulp.

Very positive book.

Love the book. I purchased an audio book, and found it to be a very inspirational. Wrote many notes to myself, and meanwhile practicing advices, as I read each chapter. I feel the energy level shifting around me to a positive level. Your book teaches me to be a better person, and with baby steps, I am using all essentials points listed in Chapter 7 on daily basis. I must admit, I replayed each chapter at least three times. Each additional times it made more sense and I gained a better understanding to every word and meaning. I am eager to share your teachings with all my family and friends. Thank you!!!

Business book for all businessmen MUST to read

Really, even though I am not a Buddhist, listening to this book completely changed my perspective on running the business in general. It can be done differently and enjoyably and I cant wait to put what I learned here into practice. Thank you Geshe Michael.

Great Direction for Life and Business

I love this book. The authors do a great job of first discussing a Buddhist philosophy and then weave it into how these principles apply in real life. Geshe Michael Roach is a very pleasant narrator. I would recommend this book!

One of the best books I'll ever read. (listen to)

Would you listen to The Diamond Cutter again? Why?

I've listened to it 3 times all the way through, and I am putting many of the suggestions into practice in my own life. This practical message is very closely aligned with the message of the Diamond Sutra, a very true-to-self exploration that allows us to find peace of mind and clarity amongst all the confusion and bewilderment.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Diamond Cutter?

They are all memorable. Honestly, there is so much wisdom revealed in this book, yet once you hear it, you may realize it was there all the time. What's remarkable about this book is that it takes such deep, internal concepts that are so difficult to put into words and well... it puts them into words and actions that can be applied into every day life.

Which character – as performed by Geshe Michael Roach – was your favorite?

there are no characters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

this book is one of the few messages I've perceived that saved me from a very trying time. Of course, my actions are what saved me, but this book was like hearing a voice in the darkness, subtly suggesting, "this way, if you like." At first, I dipped my toes, searching for understanding of what Buddhism was all about, then I stepped farther, then I realized it wasn't anything mystical or magical or even religious at all, not when you look at the genuine original messages. It's a whole lot of common sense that has been buried by distractions.

Any additional comments?

MUST READ/LISTEN TO. This is NOT some cultish religious spiritual mumbo jumbo. Actually, the message(s) here are so practical and real, you may ultimately agree that the long explanation has really brought you to a place where you are now comfortable with real living, as opposed to the media-driven, vice-interrupted existence you used to call a life. The narrator is very pleasant and clear to listen to, and the message has helped me to feel better understand my place in the world. I now feel ok setting out to make a lot of money, because everywhere I go and with everything I do, I act with love.HINT: Research the Diamond Sutra first, so you can understand the foundation for this book. There are videos on youtube that will chant/sing the diamond sutra to you, and there are entire lessons that will explain in 30 or more lesson segments, the entire Diamond Sutra. Honestly, it's worth your time. Take your time. Patience. Let it sink it. That's my recommendation.

This book can be life changing

The positive message for how living your life focused on giving of oneself, caring for others, being concerned for their well being and success will lead to a life of happiness, wellbeing and prosperity for you as well is inspirational at best. A wonderful book that I plan to work toward incorporating into my daily work and family routines.
