At last.....just the author!

At last a version which eliminates most of the interminable notes and comments which
make the author's thoughts so hard to follow in other versions. Amazing how short
the book is when most of that is removed.
Excellent, insightful book, good reading and cheap! Can't beat that combo.

Liked the fact that this version eliminated the interwoven comments that can make this hard to read - or listen to.

Very Insightful !

Some would probably find it odd that a female would read a book such as The Art of War, however anyone who leaves the comfort of their home and takes on the world to earn a living would likely find the concepts of the book to be insightful. Am I comparing the strategies of war to the working world? YES. Read the book then watch the patterns of those around you, you will see what I mean.

The book is a quick listen and worth the time.

Relevant as ever

Amazing that a book written so many years ago go could still give so much practical advice for today - not just for war but for business. Very short listen with much good advice.

You got to hear it

You got to hear it. Perhaps the book is just as simple as it sounds. But in my mind, I think the lessens are about how to repair my finances. It is a Master telling me how to defeat the enemy, (financial problems). Perhaps to some, it is just “how to kick you ass”. Perhaps others, how to defeat the enemy (where the enemy is the trouble with [fill in the blank]. It is also a curios piece. It also is quick and uses economy when composing a phrase. A lot of bang for the buck.

More than war is explained here

When I was listening to this book (the third version of it) a teen age boy who was near me said this is a women's manual of how to defeat men. I look at it more as a manual of how to conduct one's life. This is a great manual for managers and executives. My first ready was at the direction of an executive. Here you will learn how to change your thinking into a winning thinking model.

Worth The Price

I paid just a couple bucks for this book, and I feel I got my money's worth. The reader is competent, but unexciting, which doesn't help with the dry text. Still, for the price this is a can't miss.

Must Read for Future Events

Sun Tzu teaches some really great methods, frame of mind, process, evaluations of the forces you [may] face.

1 hour for one of the most read books ever? ok!

I thought it was appropriate to listen to this millenia old Chinese book on the way to Beijing. I've heard it is the most read book of all time apart from the Bible. It's about military strategy but puts it in a way that can apply to almost any kind of achieving-your-goals situation you want to apply it to.

The audio edition is only an hour and 15 mins long (without commentary) so the investment was minimal, and for the investment...worth it. A predecessor to the modern self help genre. Could be a good one to read when you are pushing to achieve some goals.

"It is not enough to put ones trust in the tethering of horses or in chariot wheels in the ground" ... Sound similar to the Bible readers out there?

Don't command "the army to advance or retreat, being ignorant that it cannot obey. This is called hobbling the army."

I read the Giles translation...seemed good.

So many people and leadership books have quote "The Art of War" that I felt it deserved a read.

Now I can nod sagely when somebody quotes it. As far as what I got for leading others - I did get one gem - The Five Dangerous Faults - Recklessness, Cowardice, hasty Temper, Delicacy of Honor (shame), and Over Solicitude for Men.

Horrible narrator. It was a blessing it only lasted 1 hour, 16 minutes, and only cost about $2.
