This book requires studying and taking notes

I loved this book a lot but if I get the chance, I'd buy the physical book and take notes cos it requires alot of practicing and remembering certain points to work on.

Gets you ready for a performance

it was a great read, I wanted to sit straight through but it took me 3 since I'm working two jobs..etc. I decided to bookmark the many key points and go through that in one sitting.

will be listening to this again and again

I thoroughly enjoyed this read and it seems a great pair with Michael Gelb's "Speaking With Power".
I will be reviewing many times to hone my craft.

Very good

Michael doesn't just give tips for public speaking. This is a comprehensive plan of how to prepare and present in public and private situations. Well Done!

I'll be returning to this book many times!

Packed with extremely useful tips on giving performances, this book might be the most practical (dare I say it) manual on public speaking I have read as of yet. It's logically structured, provides summaries in the just the right places, is written in an easy-to-understand language and focuses on the practical uses of each tip by providing relatable examples (imaginary sometimes, but mainly from real life).

I think I'm going to be returning to this book every time I have to prepare a presentation and even write a paper! Yes - it even covers the preparatory steps for giving speeches/performances or, as Michael Port would put it, any type of "show" in your life.

A solid, comprehensive work

Michael Port put his life into this. It was surprisingly thorough, from mindset to post performance. He emphasizes the crafts of acting and improv as integral elements to our best spotlight moments in life. But we need not be “entertainers” to be performers. Like acting, real practice and rehearsing are necessary components to effective speeches.

This is a solid communications and performance piece with lots of great stories, analogies, tips, and how-to’s. I recommend this book if you are serious about taking any stage. Thank you, Michael.

Good but not great

I was looking for material to help improve my job interviewing skills. When I came access this book “Steal the Show” by Michael Port, I purchased it immediately. I thought Michael’s book “Book Yourself Solid” was outstanding so I could not go wrong with “Steal the Show (I was wrong). Overall I felt that the book presented a lot of good ideas for public speaking but fell short of addressing job interviews. Michael himself is a great presenter and speaker and has a great approach to helping you to become a public speaker. Unfortunately I felt like he left out the sections for job interviews. Overall it's a good book if you want to learn and/or improve public speaking but I would not purchase it for improving your job interview skills.

I found Michael highly knowledgeable

There is so much more to this book than the title. The author does a great job of laying out what you need to take over a room, how to grow confidence, and how to respond in the moment.

The book is told from an actor's perspective but Michael goes beyond that point of view. I believe he wants to help people give the performances of their lives in every aspect of their lives, not just on the stage or in public speaking.

Although Michael never mentions it, I believe this book will help anyone looking to start some kind of podcast or radio project. It has helped me enormously and I will likely listen to the book a few times to fully embrace all the information.

The book is well-written and the audible version is well narrated (by the author himself). #Multigenerational #SelfDiscovery #Confidence #Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes
