Great book in the wrong format

This book cannot be consumed properly in an audio format. From chapter 4 to chapter to chapter 11 of the 13 total chapters its a very repetitive description of different personality types. Chapters 1 to 3 and 12 are great source of information, but having to listen to the monotony of the descriptive chapters is a sheer attack against the brain. Do yourself a favor and buy this book in print instead.

Good Tool to self-evaluate. Take the test first!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes but take your strength test first so you can focus on your top two in the book. Reading this from cover to cover is not what this book is designed for.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Any additional comments?

I would recommend it however, it would be best to take the test after the intro and then focus on where your strengths fall. Great team building exercise and getting to know the people you work with and how to utilize everyone's strengths.

food for thought

The StandOut assessment and guidebook provided some great insight into my strengths and how to capitalize on them. The beginning of the book has some background history on the development of StandOut. After that section it contains all of the code descriptions that appear in individual assessment reports.

The audible site stated that an assessment key would be emailed to purchasers of the audio book. After speaking with Audible support, and waiting a few more days, I still had not received a key to take the assessment. However, at a certain point into the audio it gives the publisher's phone number, and after calling them I was able to get a key.

Great content but out of date & difficult to navigate

The content of Stand Out is great but there is a Stand Out 2.0 which is not on audible so you are buying an out of date audio version unfortunately 😡

The concept, while simple is extremely useful to help you channel your strengths for success and also to understand how you can help others around you utilize their strengths to their advantage as well. I am going to use it to help my agile teams work more collaboratively by building on each team member's strengths.

One improvement would be to label the chapters so it's easy to navigate directly to your specific strengths after taking the assessment. I like listening to the other strengths but I want to know mine first and then listen to all others.

Stimulating!

I appreciate the emphasis on teams and the use of strengths in teams. Reminds me of Strength's Based Leadership, another great book!

Better in hard copy as a reference

I would first recommend that if you intend to take the standout survey, which is free with this purchase, do that so that you can hear your top two explained. Also recommend that if you intend to visit this again or reference that as part of an individual developmental plan that you order and own a hard copy so that you can make references and highlight The aspects of your top two for a quick reference.

Great Book and Assessment

I really enjoyed this book and the StandOut Assessment. I personally thought it was a little better than StrengthsFinder. I like the focus it has and the content for action points.
