Are you letting your employees shine?

Today’s workplace is a pressure cooker— even the most talented people struggle to sort through an influx of information, relentless demands, and unprecedented stress. And so your job as manager becomes even harder. How, in a world of intensifying competition and economic stress, can you help people shine their brightest and perform at their best, day in and day out? How can you keep your star players inspired?

In Shine, best-selling author, psychiatrist, and ADD expert Edward Hallowell combines brain science with performance research to offer a proven process to help you do just that. Hallowell’s five-step process pulls from his own work of helping people overcome their problems to become more productive in everyday life. Shine will help you:

  • SELECT: Put the right people in the right jobs, and give them responsibilities that “light up” their brains
  • CONNECT: Strengthen interpersonal bonds among team members
  • PLAY: Help people unleash their imaginations at work
  • GRAPPLE AND GROW: Enable employees to overcome pressure to achieve mastery of their work
  • SHINE: Use the right rewards to stimulate loyalty and people’s desire to excel

Brimming with the candor and warmth that millions of readers and listeners have come to expect, Hallowell’s Shine is a vital new resource for all managers seeking to inspire excellence in their teams.

Bring out the Shine

This is valuable information in first making sure people are in the right position within an organization and then it presents ways to bring out their best performance in those positions. Every step is clearly laid, with a good balance of stories to bring them to life. I see that this information would also be very beneficial in the hiring process of a company, to hire the right person for a particular position and then bring out the shine in them.

An Essential Listen for Managers and Leaders

The brain can learn, but one must wonder if managers and leaders can. Shine is a look at how brain research and the lessons learned from Hallowell's practice working with individuals can be adopted to help people not just thrive, but Shine. Shine is a guide for how to take your organizations and teams to new levels. While there are documents within the physical copy that are hard to listen to, they are available for free as PDFs on the internet. This is a great assistant for the leader on the go.
