Empowering and Easy to Understand Financial Advice

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes! Money Secrets is easy to follow and explains the financial industry with actionable advice and engaging narratives. In under three hours, I walked away with a wealth of knowledge (no pun intended!) about finance that I didn't know before.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Money Secrets?

Learning the differences between 'so-called' financial advisors in Chapter 3 was eye-opening! I now understand the differences between compensation types and feel well-armed to move forward more educated and empowered.

What did you learn from Money Secrets that you would use in your daily life?

It's easy to feel overwhelmed about money-- when, where, how, what, ah! Kim Curtis is able to break down who to trust, how to invest, and what you need to do for a financial plan in a straightforward and understandable way.

Roadmap to fitness for your retirement plan

Would you consider the audio edition of Money Secrets to be better than the print version?

The author does a terrific job narrating, and it is great to hear it in her own "voice". As I am blind, I am forced to listen to books. I believe that having the book in hand would be easier as the author has "assignments" at the end of each chapter, and it makes it easier to refer back to specific questions to ask, and things to do. If nothing else, listen to it in your car, and then get the print copy too! This book would be a great gift for your family.

What does Kim Curtis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her casual, non threatening delivery makes the complex issue of deciding on an advisor a simple checklist to follow.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

Find a FIDUCIARY that is fee based, that has only YOUR interest at heart, and not commissions, kickbacks and salary from their employer and companies they represent. Prepare a COMPREHENSIVE vision of your plan, not just an investment strategy.

Any additional comments?

The author does a TERRIFIC job of giving us a straightforward process for selecting an advisor (and evaluating our current one), She also helps us see the importance of having the right relationship with our advisor, and makes a simple but clear case of how to "fire" your current advisor if she/he is not meeting your new point of view.
Read this twice, sleep on it, give it to your significant other, have them do the same, and sit down to have a frank talk about goals, vision and begin the process of evaluating whether you are currently comfortable with your plan.
As I outlined in the title above, this is a roadmap to making your plan fit your needs. It will require hard work, soul searching and determination on your part to implement it. But the author has given you an indispensable tool to work from. So...
are you going to read the book and follow through like a fitness new year's resolution, or are you going to follow through with her carefully laid out plan and work at it every day? The answer is only in you, Ms Curtis laid the roadmap, now you need to follow it through!

Absolutely Brutal

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If the author didn't focus on divorced or widowed women the entire book.

What could Kim Curtis have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Not read it herself. I wanted to reach through the speakers and slap her. The unnatural pauses and tones were unbearable.

How could the performance have been better?

The book was very very basic. I was expecting much more and was left disappointed.

Any additional comments?

If you have any type of economic knowledge, don't waste your time with this book. it is extremely entry level and not even worth the 4 dollars I paid. I had to force myself to finish it. After the first 2 chapters I knew it was a poor purchase, and the rest of the book proved my intuition correct.
