Publisher's summary

Change has become a constant. Changes in the way we live and work. Changes in institutions and the society around us. Changes in people's needs and desires.

For more than 60 years, Peter Drucker has been modern society's preeminent thinker, lecturer, and writer of and about change and its effect on management.

Now, at the start of the 21st century, this major new title takes the listener into two broad areas of life today: first, the information society and its new and vastly different employee, the knowledge worker; and second, the underlying trends in today's society that are already influencing, and will greatly change tomorrow's.

These major trends include: The Global Baby Bust; The New U.S. Demographics; The New York Force; The More competitive Knowledge Society; and the Future of Top Management, among others.

Critic reviews

"For years, Drucker has written expertly about what he knows best, and his wisdom shines through here. His loyal audience will line up for this "one." (Booklist)
"True to form, his often deeply contrarian insights are authoritatively represented, backed up with rich historical precedents and persuasively argued." (Money Magazine)

dissapointing drucker

Best to pass on this. The book is just a rehash of pre-internet bubble interviews. Not much substance at all. I am a fan of Drucker, but was dissapointed with this book.

What brilliant observer and thinker!

This was my first Peter Durcker book, but it will not be my last. Fantastic insight on trends in business in society from some one who has been keenly observing the world change since the 1920's. He is still right on the mark bringing today's very recent internet happenings and putting them in pertinent historical context. I look forward to more of his work.

mind buzzing book

This is one of those books that switches your brain into high gear. It is fascinating to hear Peter Drucker´s ideas, some so simple and logic, some so far from what you might have thought yourself, but always able to spin your mind into deep thoughts. Nothing to be taken lightly, this is no book for a relaxed moment, but it is a tour through the words written by a great mind that can express himself in an unforgettable way.
