Publisher's summary

Leadership is alive when it is used for others. It dies when it is all about you. Anyone can make an impact. All you need is influence - the most potent professional asset on the planet. The problem is that influence is also the most underused asset on the planet. And the primary reason is that the enemy of influence is a universal human trait: self-preservation. You guard your ideas, your status, and your reputation. Within your self-constructed walls you must cast safer visions, take smaller risks, and accept shallower relationships to ensure the security of all you are protecting. This is the downside of self-preservation: While your walls protect you and yours from demise, they also restrict your influence. You must break down your walls of self-preservation and sacrifice your security for the sake of others. Only then does the escalating paradox of personal generosity come into play: The more you give, the more you receive.

This audio book shows that the key to effective leadership is learning how to influence in a way that engenders greater trust, stronger partnerships, and more impactful endeavors.

The Heart of Leadership

What made the experience of listening to Leadership Is Dead the most enjoyable?

Being able to listen to it in my car on a long drive.

What other book might you compare Leadership Is Dead to and why?

I would compare it to the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership or Winning with People because they both deal with the issues surrounding leading people.

What about Jeremie Kubicek’s performance did you like?

I believe the interview was insiteful and added value to the book. Having the opportunity to hear the author share his motivation and his passion was priceless.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. I wanted to take my time and digest the concepts presented.

Any additional comments?

This book brings humanity back to leadership. Too often, people in leadership positions respond to numbers, pressures, and deadlines rather than the authentic needs of their followers. Leadership is Dead explains how to get the same desired outcomes in a more personal, relational way.

WAY too religious

This book isn't marketed as a religious book but it is. It has some pretty good information, but he focuses way too much on religion for my taste.
