Critic Reviews

  • Winner of the American Business Association's 2015 Best Business Book of the Year, both nationally and internationally
"If you could read only one real estate book, whether you are a seasoned real estate agent or new to the industry, this is the book for you because it shows – in a funny and disarming way – how homes are bought and sold, and the humorous underbelly of a very serious business. This well-written book will appeal to real estate agents, real estate buyers and sellers and investors who work with Realtors." (Octavio Nuiry, Managing Editor, HousingNewsReport)
"Hilarious! Witty! Spiced with wisdom! Please don't make a move till you open this book. Then, if you like to laugh, I don't think you'll want to put it down. Cathy Turney has given America a real page Turney! Oops, page turner!" (Patricia Evans, internationally acclaimed author and relationship consultant)
"A lot of sound advice and a lot of laughs." (Chuck Lamb, former president, California Association of Realtors)

funny, entertaining.... but no real meat

I enjoyed listening to this audio, but found that it didn't really contain information that is extremely helpful. alot of common sense stuff that might help a beginner agent.

Good and funny insights into the mind of a Realtor

The book is not 100% full of good Real Estate info but more of a quick, humorous, book in to the mind and daily life of an experienced realtor. If you're considering becoming one or even working with one, it is a good book to read. The female narrator did well in executing the spirit of the book. I am a hobbiest and read a lot of Real Estate investing books. This one was a refreshing change.

Trying too hard to be funny, missing the point

What would have made Laugh Your Way to Real Estate Sales Success better?

Honestly more concrete stories and recommendations. The author was trying to hard to make the reader laugh and after a while it was just like hearing the same joke over and over again. I don't feel like this was a good read for the new agent, wanna be, or used to be. As a new agent, I don't think I would have gleaned more than a couple of insights that would help me run my business.

Would you ever listen to anything by Cathy Turney again?

no

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Laugh Your Way to Real Estate Sales Success?

The chapter on subject to's was really bad. I felt like she was going for length of the chapter or had a certain amount of words she needed. It was just too long and point was well taken after about 1/2 the chapter.

Too perky. Don't try standup.

Your mom and brothers made you wait 11 months to land your first listing? I do not believe that. Your office mgr had to have given you a relo or something?
I fast forwarded from the "God as foreclosure specialist" story almost to the end. The story was TDS'ly over-extended.
We are all gifted narcissists in this business but humor is in the eye of...
I still gifted your audible book to my new agent daughter and am working on my misogynistic tendencies. BMcfearin@gmail.com. McFearinRealEstate.com

Great fun.

This was most enjoyable. Been an agent for over 20 years. Not much new information but presented in a really fun manor. Just what I needed for a little recharge.

This might be considered OK for a newbie.

Sorry but a great humerous story still needs to be followed by more constructive how. Scripts, dialogues, aid with emotional intelligence, how to hit targets and the real activities. Garage sales might be great but then what? Whats the follow up procedure exactly, how many touch points should you have a year and what are the most effective ways of doing it?

Nice little story but I cant say the time I have invested into listening has given me a return sadly.
