Mark Skousen has built his impressive reputation as one of the industry's best-known investment advisors by consistently beating the market year after year. Now, he passes along his entire investment philosophy, based on his decades of experience, in a single, one-lesson book.

Investing in One Lesson first unravels the intricacies of Wall Street, explaining in layman's terms why financial markets frequently behave in seemingly irrational ways. Then Skousen reveals his surprisingly simple strategy for making money in the stock market and shows why his approach stands the test of time and the scrutiny of skeptics.

Including personal anecdotes from Skousen's career, Investing in One Lesson is an indispensable guide for beginning investors or those seeking to increase their returns.

Good start to your education

While the narration was a bit dry, consistent issue with unabridged books in my opinion, the topic was interesting. Its not and end all be all way to the stock market, but its a start.

Definitely worth the read!!

In my humble opinion this book is one of the best I have read on Investing and I have read quite a few over the past 30 years. I found it to be more comprehensive than just a basic level lesson on investing and yet easy to follow the author’s theme and main points. Not a lot of fluff, right to the point or explanation. Filled in gaps in my own knowledge and gave me another angle to look at investing. I believe everyone active in investing can learn something from this book.

Very Substantive for a Short Book

Most investment books as short as this one are full of flowery language, personal stories, and attempted inspiration with little real substance.

Investing in One Lesson may sound like a “get rich quick from this one simple principle,” but it’s not. The first half of the book explains how stock markets actually work—what causes stock prices to vary so drastically, why in the short run stocks are not the same as investing in a company, but also why the stock market is still worthwhile and necessary for the economy as a whole.

The second half turns to strategies for investing. This section is also very substantive, offering concrete strategies and even lists many of his favorite specific stocks and funds. While he does talk a lot about the value of dividend stocks/funds, he’s not claiming that this is the only good strategy to take, and talks of several others as well.

Review

The book is very simple for the experienced investor; but it is well written, and it states helpful theories that can help investors at all levels.
