Publisher's summary

This is the first book to present innovation and entrepreneurship as a purposeful and systematic discipline. It clearly explains and analyzes the challenges and opportunities of America's new entrepreneurial economy. Peter Drucker, the most influential and widely-read thinker and writer on modern organizations, gives us a superbly practical book that explains what established businesses, public service institutions, and new ventures have to know, have to learn, and have to do in today's economy and marketplace.

Great book, poorly read :-(

This book is a fantastic review of the considerations and complexities of the entrepreneurial business model. Unfortunately, the person reading the text of this audiobook has done an abyssmal job and significantly detracts from its quality.

This narrator could make sex sound boring.

I am way too busy to be writing reviews on websites, but I just felt like I had a responsibility to worn others about how bad this reader is with the text. He does such a deplorable job, that you just cannot get anything out of the material. I listen to audiobooks for about 10 hours every week, and I have never heard one as bad as this. This is seriously a waste of money.

This guy could make sex sound boring.

Stay away.

impossible to listen to in the car

I listen to audiobooks in my car, during my commute. The sound quality and narration in this one is so poor that it is effectively impossible to listen to.

Decent material, miserable presentation.

The book read like a textbook, which means that the approach was dry at times and occasionally hard to follow. The information was useful, but it was tough to pick out the valuable parts every now and then. The narrarator was terrible, monotone, and miserable. I'd rather read the book myself than liste to him read it.

An excellent book that needs a remastering

I was very concerned when I read other people's review of how the narration was below quality. I still downloaded the book, and I'm glad I did. The content of the book is excellent, well suited for an audiobook because of its narrative style. Very interesting, well laid-out topics about business, with plenty of examples of well known companies. The only issue -and I can see what people are referring to- is the quality of the recording, which probably started as a cassette tape that got poorly mixed to digital audio. It is somewhat muted, but still understandable. I think the narrator does a pretty good job. I don't think it's a "dry" reading.

Find a better reader

The content of this book is great. But the reader makes it very hard to listen to. Buckle down for a dry lecture.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship

The contents of the book are insightful and stand the test of time. The audiobook version stinks. I had to listen twice and gave up. The recording quality is very poor. Just buy the printed version.

Brilliant

Drucker backs up his main points with a wealth of knowledge of the history of the evolution of business. One page we are tracing the development of bank financing in Germany, on another how Watson's interest in astronomy was a catalyst for IBM's development of the first commercially successful business computer.

Fascinating book. No problem with the narration, either.

A MUST read for any entrepreneur or innovator!!!

I have listened to this book literally 12 or 13 times and reviewed sections of it more than that! This is the definitive work on the systemization of innovation! I'm being literal when I say that this has to be the MOST significant book on the topic ever written! I'd put it on my shelf next to Good To Great!
5 stars all the way!!!

Great book, narrator ok

The book contains some new, some repetitions of Drucker concepts. I found it highly recommended.
The narrator does a decent job in the reading.
