Self control is probably the most important skill you need to acquire as a trader. Unfortunately most trading psychology books can be very vague and short on specific strategies to take control of your mental state while trading. Control Your Inner Trader draws on the experience of an eight-year trading veteran who is also a qualified therapist. Behavioural and therapeutic techniques are included in the book that are easy for anyone to follow.
The most prevalent emotion facing traders is fear. Fear causes traders to exit trades too early, ruining their equity curve. Fear causes traders to self-sabotage so they can fulfil their self-fulfilling prophecy of trading failure. Fear causes traders to find reasons to avoid taking trades that would have been winners. Fear causes traders to exit trades before they have a chance to get the move under way and then have the misery of seeing a profitable trade run away from them.
Become a savvy trader with a 'mindful' edge.... TraderMind is an essential resource for understanding and applying mindfulness-based approaches that help to enhance an individual trader's overall performance. Based upon extensive research and practical application in the real world of the trading floor, TraderMind includes methods, tactics and techniques to build and enhance awareness and insight, which help manage thoughts and emotions and maximize trading performance.
Maximizing the trader's state of mind is the key to successful results. Conflicts, contradictions, and paradoxes in thinking can spell disaster for even a highly motivated, astute and well-grounded trader. Mark Douglas, an industry consultant since 1982, sends the message that a "thinking strategy" will profoundly influence a trader's success rate. Douglas addresses five very specific issues to give traders the insight and understanding about themselves that will make them consistent winners in the market.
Every trader is an entrepreneur. And just as a new business must capitalize upon the strengths of its founders, a career in the markets crucially hinges upon the assets - personal and monetary - of the trader. As an active trader and a coach of traders in hedge funds, proprietary trading groups, and investment bank settings, author Brett Steenbarger has helped others see the personal assets they have possessed all along: those that can pay a lifetime of dividends.
Some traders distinguish themselves from the herd. These supertraders make millions of dollars - sometimes in hours - and consistently outperform their peers. As he did in his acclaimed national best seller, Market Wizards, Jack Schwager interviews a host of these supertraders, spectacular winners whose success occurs across a spectrum of financial markets. These traders use different methods, but they all share an edge. How do they do it? What separates them from the others? What can they teach the average trader or investor?

How to Stop Over-Trading is the latest book in the trading psychology series of books by LR Thomas. This book zeroes in on the specific reasons traders take trades outside their trading plans and offers simple solutions to stop over-trading forever.
The truth is that if a trader consistently trades outside his strategy, even on a demo platform, he is very unlikely to succeed in trading. This book offers simple but effective solutions, just like the other LR Thomas trading psychology books: Control Your Inner Trader and Overcome Your Fear in Trading.
If you are skewing your trading results by taking trades you shouldn't, then this book could change your trading for the better - forever.
Really good book. He made it short and simple instead of writing to many things to fill up
I have been day trading for 4 years , and this
Audio book is very helpful. I was lacking the psychological aspect, not so much the technical , and now i feel more rounded.
I would very useful the information in this book. Understanding of overtrading could make much bigger difference when you use it. So after all it is up to you.
Good narration, practical and sound advice. Obviously written by an experienced trader. Combined with other books on trading psychology it will take your trading to a higher level since over trading is a common sin we all commit.
I liked this audiobook quite a bit. Lots of good points. Mr. Thomas says he has ADD and I have ADD as well so I like his approach. He is focused on controlling human flaws through self analysis and creating rules with the purpose of controlling yourself and avoiding temptation.
interesting look into the psychology of over trading. I recommend all day traders read this
If you could sum up How to Stop Over-Trading in three words, what would they be?
Concentrate on process
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Practical steps on how to overcome overtrading. Comparison with gambling.
What about Wayne Chin’s performance did you like?
Very good but strange to hear a man narrating when author is a woman.
