Publisher's summary

Jeffrey Fox, the author of such business best-sellers as How to Become CEO, is unsurpassed when it comes to empowering readers to gain the edge on the competition. But before you can run the company, you have to get your foot in the door, and in How to Land Your Dream Job, Fox shows how to do exactly that, with invaluable, and often counterintuitive, advice, such as:

  • Why resumes don't sell
  • Skip the personnel department
  • How to research a target company
  • Be a fish out of water
  • No one cares what you like
  • Ask to do a demonstration
  • Don't talk in an interview
  • "I" is a bad word
  • Mind your business: don't miss more from Jeffrey J. Fox.

    Excellent.

    It's different.

During my MBA studies I did not get as great and valuable insights on strategies for job-search from my school's Grad. Career Services as I got from this audio.

    Great suggestions, and new perspective!

Where does How to Land Your Dream Job rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Being a marketing person my self, and an independant contractor. Looking for a w-2 job I was subconciously waiting for the interviewer to sell ME the job. Duh! Why did I not realize that I was what I was selling? Great new perspective for me. The questions and attitude of this online book is awesome.

Would you be willing to try another book from Jeffrey J. Fox? Why or why not?

    yes

What about Jeffrey J. Fox’s performance did you like?

Not a perfromance, like he is talking right to you.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Who is selling what?

Lots of good info not necessarily innovative

Struggled to get connect with the author at first.

More don'ts then do's. I liked that he stressed job searching and interviews as selling (the product being yourself). Defiantly emphasized the importance of selling yourself to an employer.

If you can prove you can solve the employer's problem, you get hired.
