Publisher's summary

How Life Imitates Chess is a primer on how to think, make decisions, prepare strategies, and anticipate the future. Kasparov has distilled the lessons he learned over a lifetime as a chess grandmaster to cover the practical side - tactics, strategy, preparation, as well as the subtler, more human arts of using memory, intuition, and imagination. It's a remarkably honest audiobook in which Kasparov, one of the world's most celebrated and successful competitors, details both his blunders and his victories, always with the intent to enable readers to absorb his lessons and do better for themselves.

Excellent book

Kasparov writes as well in book form as he does in his columns. Direct and to the point. The book is also read very well by Grupper

Urge to play Chess, rising..

A very enjoyable book that gives me more desire to make strategic moves in my life. The politicalness of the book gets a bit heavy towards the end, but still worth it.

A beautiful balance of chess and life

An amazing narrator tells the story of Gary’s chess life in conjunction with how life imitates the board of 64 squares, and how strategy is involved in everything we do. I’ve listened to this audio presentation twice and have majorly enjoyed the content, as well as absorbed a deal of wise information. It’s not the best book for “new tactics” per-say, but rather recognizing key approaches to a successful life.

Much better than I expected

This book was much better than I expected. I must read if you are a fan of Gary Kasparov. it had more to do with chess psychology and strategy than I expected which was good for me. I loved the chess world anecdotes and application for daily life.

An incredible and mandatory read to nuture genius

Astounding. Whether you are a chess player, a business leader, a negotiator, an artist or one just looking to better navigate day to day ways to achieve success, this book is in depth and detailed but clear and made accessible to the layman, with theory as well as case studies in chess, business, military and political history. And peppered with humor, confident humility and a rallying of positive motivation.
