Incredible ideas for a world that desperately need them

This book defines a new paradigm that does so many things which organizations and the world need including clearly defining an organizations purpose and getting everyone in the organization to use their minds to achieve that purpose. When we unleash all of the brainpower and discretionary effort that is currently wasted in the world we will see incredible increases in productivity and innovation. This book provides a system to unlock that incredible potential. Organizations and individuals will benefit immeasurably.

Informative boredom

I so looked forward to an interesting read. I enjoyed the concept and am intrigued by the possibilities. My displeasure came not from the new-wave perspective on self-organization, that was enlightening, but from the verbose delivery of the author. I agree with other reviewers in this forum: less would certainly be more as to the too-many words used. That alone made this book difficult to get through. That aside, the construct presented could certainly work if given the chance. Thanks to the author for sharing this ground breaking system.

Dungeons & Dragons for Organisations

Quite possibly the most boring book I have ever listened to, once I got used to the semi robotic machine gun style narration. The sentiment of Holocracy is laudable, hierarchies are increasingly useless business structures, and yes evolutionary concepts, methods and tools are the way forward. We live and work in webs not pyramids. But oh boy, this is how to design an organisation if: you've high functioning autism, spent years of your life playing Dungeons and Dragons, grew up a dweeb, graduated to techie geek, got employed as a nerd, confused the arse out of everyone by trying to brain dump everything you know into the answer to every question you're asked, got sad, dropped out to smoke weed and then woke up one morning and said, I'm going to run my own business. Then when in true self motivating style, you had a tidy up, found your old Dungeons and Dragons set and thought, oh, I've got an idea. Annoyingly, every hour or so the mind numbing stuff gets interrupted by a fabulous nugget of insight, so you just got to keep listening. I did and it was worth it.

Not a self improvement book

This is a great book if you own a company and need to completely change the way it is run for the modern working world that we live in.

As a lifetime employee, I totally resonate with the basis of the book. It helps people who are disengaged and feel they don't have the power to do anything positive in the workplace to understand that there is another way. It also helps managers who have tried everything to make positive changes yet fail every time.

I read a lot of self improvement books. This is not really a book in that category per se. I would give this book a five star review if you are a company owner, and a three star review if you simply love reading self improvement books like me.
