Publisher's Summary

Leadership is often a risky, lonely role possessing nearly unbearable lows and fleeting highs. Despite this emotionally and intellectually draining roller coaster, a handful of leaders deliver stunning results, with great consistency. They push past current leadership trends in order to achieve the most extremely challenging goals. They don't fall prey to the platitudes or cliches we see so often see in leadership theory. Instead, they succeed by recognizing and surviving the dangers that challenge them as they take themselves and their teams to higher levels. These rare individuals are those that Chris Warner and Don Schmincke call High Altitude Leaders. In High Altitude Leadership they explain how to become that kind of leader.

The authors present a new approach to leadership development, based on ground-breaking scientific research, field-tested under the most brutal conditions on the most difficult summits, and successfully applied in the training of executives, management teams, and entrepreneurs throughout the world.

Must listen for mountaineers & mortals

What made the experience of listening to High Altitude Leadership the most enjoyable?

Why are you such a risk taker in some parts of your life and a wimp in others?

What was one of the most memorable moments of High Altitude Leadership?

Writing a business plan, on toilet paper, while cooped up in a tent on Denali.

Which scene was your favorite?

All of it.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Do you want to die fast or slow?

Any additional comments?

Chris does a great job of boiling down behavioral issues that you will see all around you - even in the mirror - that are killing you and your organization. The question is whether you are going to do anything about them?

An Excellent Leadership Book

Any additional comments?

This is the best leadership book I have read by a civilian. No BS. A lot of leadership books have 5 hours of useful content and 4 hours of fluff. This book doesn't. I felt like the entire book was top notch content.
