Critic reviews

“Dave Ramsey’s EntreLeadership speaks right to the heart of business leaders, showing not just the ‘how tos,’ but also the ‘why tos’ that apply to any sized business, from a garage-based startup to a powerhouse market leader. And by the way, I’m the biggest Dave Ramsey acolyte ever!” (Dr. Arthur B. Laffer, economic advisor to President Ronald Reagan)
“Entrepreneurs are needed in America now more than ever - but there’s a big difference between starting a company and leading one. And there’s an even bigger difference between a company that’s valuable and one that has values. But Dave has figured out the recipe to being both things at once, and his lessons are invaluable.” (Glenn Beck, best-selling author)
“Dave Ramsey has taken commonsense leadership principles and made them uncommonly practical, useful, and life changing. His straightforward and plain-talk approach is refreshing. Even more admirable is that his advice is not a bunch of leadership fru-fru fluff, but it's solid and substantive.” (Mike Huckabee, former governor, FOX News host)

It's Abridged!!!

What did you like about this audiobook?

Dave's the man. He inspired and taught me to get debt free and find financial peace.

How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?

Dave makes you want to be a better leader.

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

This is an abridged book! I'm a big fan (BS3) and love FPU. Heck, we host it at our church every year and even hosted the EntreLeadership simulcast. Hey, I bought the audio AND hardback books. What a huge disappointment to read the book as I listen and notice entire sections, paragraphs and pages just skipped altogether. What's that about? I paid for the whole book, Dave, why couldn't you read it all?Bad form from a great man.

THE most practical book on running a business.

OK...you can toss all those books about running a business written by egg head college professors or knuckleheads who are only good at writing books about running a business. You can also toss the books by successful business people that only stroke their ego and personal brand but fail to share the real deal about how to run a successful business on a daily basis. EntreLeadership is a book that will help your business TODAY regardless of what stage you are at. Practical, Specific, Direct, AND Entertaining. My company is growing like crazy and Dave Ramsey is the business mentor that I need right now. I am now listening to the book for the second time.

Very good and usable advice

Dave has done a fine jod and there is a lot of real world wisdom in here and the book tells you things you can acually do not just super generic advice that no one can figure out how to put into practice. Very little pchyco-babble

Excellent insights for building a great business

What did you love best about Entreleadership?

Dave provides excellent insight into how to build and grow a successful business based on solid biblical principles. He offers many helpful examples from his own experience to illustrate his points.

There were some excellent pieces of advice that I will likely remember for a lifetime that are very helpful for business and life.

I enjoyed hearing Dave read his own book (as opposed to another narrator) because he is passionate about what he knows and believes and it comes through in his voice.

I also enjoyed that Dave referenced the Bible multiple times. It is refreshing to be reminded that God is in everything we do, including business.

Passion! An Author who CARES about his material!

What did you love best about Entreleadership?

Dave Ramsey is a faith driven man, which could come off strong to an atheist like me, but it doesn't. Nearly all of his advice is practically important, and he delivers it all with passion WITHOUT needing to refer to Jesus constantly.

This is an all-encompassing book about determining your strengths, starting a business, assembling a team, managing the work, defining products/services, and more. As an amateur, I appreciated the breadth of the material. The passion and conviction which has come with years of preaching, no doubt, made the hours fly by, even during a second listen-through immediately after the first.

What other book might you compare Entreleadership to and why?

The Personal MBA has much of the same material but with more of the "nitty gritty" details. EntreLeadership focuses mostly on the actual business-side of project and people management, whereas The Personal MBA covers everything from business tax to personal health/diet.

Have you listened to any of Dave Ramsey’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The one downside: If you have listened to Ramsey's "EntreLeadership" podcast, you have heard the most important pieces of this book. In the podcast, you'll hear a recording of Ramsey in front of an audience (where he shines even more) performing parts/excerpts of this material, then a host discusses the main topic with a guest.

I suggest listening to the audiobook, and if you enjoy the material, listen to the EntreLeadership Podcast from Episode 1. It would be a great way to refresh all the information.

Any additional comments?

Some theology is there but entirely digestible and even charming in places, if that doesn't happen to be your cup of tea.

WOW what an awesome book!! Dave really brings it !

What did you love best about Entreleadership?

It is truly everything you need to know, but didn't know who to ask. I loved the section on compensation plans and how to hire someone. The interview process that he recomends is priceless.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Entreleadership?

He put the chairs for their morning staff meeting outside in the snow, because several of them were coming in late. He then had the morning meeting out in it. He told them if they didn't get their act together they would be out in the street.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The entire book moved me.

Any additional comments?

Dave is the perfect example of what you can do when you have God on your side. When you handle everything with integrety and honor you will be a success.

Should be titled 'EntreChristianLeadership'

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No - While there is some good advice from Dave's experience, I was happy when it ended. Dave's style is very loud and out there and full of references to his evangelical Christian beliefs. If you're not into hearing references to the Bible etc. every 5 to 10 minutes then look elsewhere.

Any additional comments?

This is not a book for entrepreneurs that want to have staff that can innovate. This book is more about how to motivate and control staff, not inspire them to innovate new products or product features.

Seriously?

Love Dave Ramsey, but this is way too basic information. I already know about setting goals, the use of the assumptive clause when selling etc... This book is mostly a re-hash of the abundant leadership/sales literature. The chapter on hiring is probably the best one of the lot.

Got the audiobook to listen while reading it

Leading by example is a big thing. The audiobook doesn’t match up to the actual book. To many shortcuts and skipped sections I’m getting lost and possibly loosing part of the points. Sorry to say this but very disappointed so far.
