What did you like best about Duct Tape Marketing (Revised and Updated)? What did you like least?
Can a marketing book with advice for small business be too comprehensive? As an owner of a digital marketing firm that serves small business, I've seen too many businesses armed with "just enough information" feel confident enough to participate in marketing areas they should avoid altogether, or find help executing. Google Adwords is a great example. How does a fool make a small fortune using Google Adwords? Start with a large fortune. While I was impressed with the completeness of Jantsch research, many of the marketing areas he made sound simple, simply aren't simple. The businesses that I see succeeding today aren't those who know a little bit about a lot of marketing techniques, or those who use "tactical trial and error" as their strategy. Success belongs to businesses who know where customers come from, and structure marketing around that insight. I give this three stars for being comprehensive and well-organized. To get my 5 stars, I'd want better insights and more focus on strategy. That's what small businesses require today, not a little knowledge about everything.

What disappointed you about Duct Tape Marketing (Revised and Updated)?
After having a couple of good chapters about marketing strategy, the entire book turned into specific marketing tactics he recommends (plus a bunch of plugs for his own marketing business). The main problem with spending 3/4's of the book on tactics is that it gets out of date fast (do I hear a yellow pages reference?).
What could John Jantsch have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
More on strategy. Less talking about tactics. Also, if my business sells retail type items then I don't think a lot of his advice would be applicable. Seemed like this was oriented to selling large B2B items like big equipment or B2B services.
What three words best describe John Jantsch’s voice?
Not unpleasant, period.
wonderful experience reading this boòk . it's a very good guide for marketing managers in their career perspective.thabnk you
Halfway through the book I had to start over because I realized I needed to be taking notes. If you own a small business, but this book and get your own and paper ready.

Be careful about buying from Audible.
I assumed that, as a company owned by Amazon I would have the same easy time as I do with music downloads.
But these downloads from Audible come in a special format that means you can't transfer over to your mp3 player unless it is one of those that work. My Sony Walkman doesn't.
Not good enough Amazon - you've built your reputation on high customer trust but experiences Audible could destroy it.
