Real case studies on bribery and corruption written by expert fraud examiners...
Bribery and Corruption Casebook: The View From Under the Table is a one-of-a-kind collection of actual cases written by the fraud examiners who investigated them. These stories were hand-selected from hundreds of submissions and together form a comprehensive, enlightening, and entertaining picture of the many types of bribery and corruption cases in varied industries throughout the world.
This book reveals the dangers of bribery and corruption and the measures that can be taken to prevent it from happening in the first place.
Maybe one would need to have the soul of a fraud examiner, but I find this book to have perfect pitch. There are simply true stories, one after another, short enough to stay fresh in mind, as written up by people who found the wrongdoers and helped run them to ground. The stories do not lack for color -- one gets a feel for the personalities, particularly the personal weaknesses and foibles that created an opening for fraud to become a part of what might seem an otherwise fairly normal person's activities. So, there is a psychological dimension, as well as a clear laying out of the nuts and bolts of the schemes to bribe, siphon off money, and so on. The stories continue through each investigation, tracing its procedures, and recounting the attempts of some suspects to lie their way, or otherwise wriggle, out of the situation. For some reason the very even and unemotional (but well-delivered) voice of the male narrator fits this content like a glove, for me. The whole thing is clear as a bell, competently delivered, and very informative. It's very good value for the credit spent.

This book is everything you will expect from a high school level textbook. Dry, boring and uninspiring. Only a few times before have i experienced such an interesting and exiting subject presented in such a boring way. What a shame.
