20% of this book is 80% useful.

Perhaps some people could really use this but I feel like most of this book is just “hey I bet the 80/20 rule Could be applied to almost anything”.

An over-application of a good idea.

The author set out to convince me to apply his 80/20 rule to my life, and failed to convince. Early on in the text, he assures his readers that his approach is not about cutting corners. As the book goes on, example-by-example, it really starts to look less like a time-optimizing strategy and more like a doing the bare minimum to get by strategy.

My positive takeaway from this book is that in some areas of life, it's best to prioritize efforts that yield the maximum reward and majority of desired outcomes. My biggest criticism is that settling for only 80% in life is a horrible strategy. A lot of things in life take the whole 100%, and if you only give 20% you give up the chance at excellence.

Wate of money and time

This book is the most useless thing I ever heard. Very sad to have wasted my credit

Very basic

The book is very basic. If you have an understanding of 80/20, Pareto chart, and statistics it will be too basic. If not, the book could be some benefit. Thanks

Decent quick read for productive lifestyle

If I were to read this again and apply the 80/20 principles I would reread sections 5 and 6.

Should have took author's advice and stopped reading

This book was really a waste of time. The narrator mispronounced so many words, and the book was a waste of time. At one point, the author suggests a way to 80/20 your life is to put down books that aren't good. I should have listened to him and not even finished this one. Thankfully, if was only about 2 1/2 hours and I listened while walking the dog or I'd be even more disappointed.

Bad book about a great topic

This book, ironically, is a good example of the 80/20 rule -- 20 percent (rounded up) might be useful, but 80 percent is a waste of time, and some of it is downright stupid and bad.

I am thinking especially of the Myers-Brigg Type Indicator section, which can be summarized as "If you ignore EVERYTHING the MBTI people tell you about appropriate and inappropriate uses of MBTI, you can use your specific MBTI as an excuse to bin other people into 'useful' and 'not useful' categories based on their MBTI."

The rest of it, while occasionally having flashes of...adequacy? usefulness?... is largely composed of assertions, some of which might be interesting in a particular context, but all of which are ill-documented.

You can clearly 80/20 anything!

Not bad. From family to relationships to fitness to friendships to business, you can apply 80/20 to anything.

The author needed more concrete examples and I disagree with him on fitness, but it’s not a bad eye opener.
