Publisher's summary

When you play with fire, you're bound to get burned....

Katie:

He is a very bad man. There is nothing good about him.... Unless you count the things he does to me between the sheets. Those are good, very good. Everything else about him is bad to the core. One drunken night of bone-melting sex should have been the end of it - especially since I woke up alone.

Until he shows up at my door complete with handcuffs. I hate him for what he's doing. Too bad my body can't resist him.

Torch:

She has a body that makes men beg. I had to have her. I didn't realize one night with her would be a drug - one I'd crave over and over. Katie's past brings me to her door. I should walk away. I can't. My president asked me to do this job, and technically I am. I'm doing her against the wall, in the shower, on the counter, the table, and, occasionally, even the bed. The heat between us is intense and white-hot like an open flame. I can't walk away, even for my president, the man I swore to follow into hell. I warned her I am no one's happily ever after. I'm too dark. I'm more of a nightmare. She chose to play with fire. I did too.

It's too late. Now we'll both be burned.

Book contains a HEA for the main characters. It is a continuation of book one of the Devil's Blaze MC, Captured.

👍🏻 except for the blankedy cliffhanger

I enjoyed most of book one, of this trilogy; with a few exceptions. First, I really did not like the voice that the female narrator used as Beth’s. Beth was born and spent a good part of her impressionable years in Montana, not Georgia or Arkansas. Beth is depicted with a horrible, hichish voice. I had to turn it out in order to be able to continue the book. I also hate the excessive use of angst. In this book, the angst was founded in “untold truths “ and “lack of trust”. I must admit, based on the age and lack of maturity of the Heroine, in this book, this type of angst would be a likely character flaw. That being said, writing that uses this type of angst over large parts of a novel, tend to cause me to become frustrated and irritable, which defeats the entire purpose of escaping with a romance novel. Being the sucker that I am, I had to stick with the story to get to the HEA in the third novel.

I will also caution you that, if you are emotionally sensitive and empathetic, you don’t want to listen to the last 1/3 of this book if you will be in the public eye. I didn’t only cry, I bawled ugly tears that required cool compresses to correct my swollen eyes. Do be aware that there is a novella next, in the series, that does not center around Beth and Skull and that is followed by another novel that also does not center on Beth and Skull. The kicker is that these two writings do include hints that will enhance Beth and Skulls story but you have to put their story on ice for quite awhile before the resolution starts.

Burned and oh wow!

Skull and Beth, now Torch and Katie. The Devil's Blaze boys has got their hooks into me soo deep that I feel like I am on pins and needles every time I listen to or read their stories.

Plus, the narrators are spot on, perfectly giving voice to the characters. Good job!

And Jordan Marie? Dang it, WOW!
