Publisher's summary

One alpha man. One bossy woman. A fire that won’t die.

Once upon a time, Amelia was my everything. Until she wasn’t.

I’m home now, and I want her back. She’s never forgiven me for something I didn’t even do. I’ve never forgiven her for believing the worst.

One look and the years apart go up in smoke. She’s all I ever wanted. A snappy attitude and the nerve to bring me to my knees.

Now we have seven years of bitterness tangled up between us. Yet, I can’t stay away. The fire burns too hot.

This is my second chance. I won’t back down. She’ll be mine. For keeps this time.

Drawn out and over the top narration by Muffy

Muffy Newton/Maxine M. totally destroys this listen. She can't even say a name without dragging it stupidly out. Amiliaaahhh:-(
How is she so often paired with those great male narrators? The 3 J's + Snow and Hamilton. There must be a lack of good female narrators out there. Go on girls. New job in the horizen.

Female narrator ruins this

The male narrator is great, which is the only reason I gave any stars at all. The female narrator is so irritating that I could not finish listening. She uses a strange, affected voice where she holds the last syllable out at the end of every sentence. Example: “I rubbed the hem of Cade’s t-shiiiiirt.” Why? Why? So incredibly irritating. Maybe I will try reading it rather than listen.

Could not finish..,

The story may be good but I couldn’t get past Ms Newtown’s narration. She was so annoying I could barely listen to her. Mr Snow should have narrated the whole darn book!

Burn

Burn for me is a second chance love story. I had a hard time with paying attention. Too much word vomit. It felt like the author repeated over and over. Couldn’t finish. Story had good bones.

Thought I would give this story another go. It gets better. The first 6 chapters or so, in my opinion could have been left out. The story gets better.

Burn for Me

Ok by the time I got to chapter 33 I felt like I have read the ending before. Its so odd.

The rest of the book felt new. It was ok, I liked the second chance at love stuff but Amelia being so jealous I just didn’t like that considering Cade likes her so much.

I just wished it was I don’t know so less angsty/drama. The best thing about this book is Alaska.

Loved the narration too.

Overall good but

The female character was very annoying and weak. There were several times I just had to skip through because I wanted to scream at how ridiculous she was. I can handle a little insecurity but she was a little much. Thank goodness for the narrators, they saved the book. I would probably not have finished if it wasn’t for both of them. They’re two of my favorites.

DNF

I gave this 3 stars out of fairness because I couldn’t finish it and can’t be sure if the story was good or not. I’m not going to say the female narration was bad, it was just annoying to me and I couldn’t take it anymore. The female narrator speaks in a creepy aggressive whisper. It’s weird. This is not the first time that Muffy Newtown’s whisper and vocal fry poked holes in my ear drums, but it’s definitely the worst.

More showing less telling

While the story itself was a quick listen and ultimately interesting enough it didn’t land the way second chances usually do with me. There was a whole lot of telling me, telling me their history, telling me their feelings, telling me their current set up. There was no show, I didn’t get to see the feelings bloom or burn or fester so I wasn’t invested at all. Not a bad couple hours spent but not something I’ll seek out more of either.

Great second chance romance

Throughout the years they were separated, Amelia and Cabe never stopped loving each other. This was a really enjoyable book and was so happy when Amelia decided not to marry Earl. Afterwards in a bar, Cabe came to her rescue. Although there was an HEA almost throughout the book, it felt like it should have continued a little further. The book, or their story, felt unfinished. There was a female villain who betrayed her best friend Amelia and broke Amelia and Cade up over nothing. This happens in the beginning of the book. Muffy Newtown and Aiden Snow did an awesome job with the narration and Aiden’s voice is very sexy.
