Publisher's Summary

Two missing persons. One apparent suicide. Three cases pushing PI Jessie Cole and crime reporter Ben Morrison closer to the edge.

Lacey Geiger could be a very rich woman. If Jessie Cole can find her. The beneficiary of a sizable estate, Lacey vanished years ago after escaping an abusive childhood and is veiled now behind a new identity. Jessie has two weeks to find her. It’s enough time to discover that Lacey is hiding from so much more than anyone realized. But she isn’t the only one with secrets. And Jessie’s not the only one searching for the truth.

A concerned daughter has asked for help finding her mother - a woman said to have been murdered thirty years ago. And Jessie’s colleague Ben, an amnesiac still struggling with the bloody memories of a shattered life, is nearer to piecing together a very dark picture. Especially when someone he detests is found dead, hanging from a tree by a riverbank.

Now as the mysteries, puzzles, and lies of three investigations are unearthed, Jessie and Ben will risk everything to bring all that is hidden into the light.

This is a busy book!

This is a very good addition to the Jessie Cole series. If you haven't listened to to the previous books I would suggest listening in order for continuity. However, these can each be listened to as stand alone books.
The publisher's summary is excellent and leaves little room for any additional information with out adding spoilers.
I will say it sure has plenty of twists. The book begins with a kidnapping of a husband and wife. Their situation is not good. They've drugged and wake up buried in a box together. It doesn't take long for the wife (Lacey) to learn things about her husband that maybe she would have preferred not to.
There are two other cases Jessie and her protege Zee are working on.
Meanwhile , Jessie's amnesiac friend Ben is trying to piece together missing memories. He may not like what he finds.
The book ends with a cliffhanger so I'm not sure if this is the end of this series as I've seen some people say or just another installment.
Kate Rudd does an excellent job narrating.
This book is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Race to the finish

I have really enjoyed this series, unfortunately it felt like this was rushed at the ending. In the middle of climatic moment for the book it felt like the author just just gave up and just solved the whole thing without the suspense I expect from these authors. I hope their next one is good because I know they can do it.

Great 3 in 1 Story! Excellent Narration!

This book was so good! I enjoyed every bit of it! I love Jessi's character. She is a great investigator. I really like Zee too and all the friends in her head! LOL

This story had 3 investigations going on at once. There was always something happening. I really enjoyed Lacey and her husband scenes. What a POS he was. That was fun to listen to.

Zee's story was great too. I don't want to give away spoilers here so I will keep this review short. Just believe me when I tell you this is a good book and all the books in this series are great! I highly recommend them all.

As for the narration, Kate Rudd is amazing, she does such a great job on all the voices, the men sound like men and everyone gets their own distinct voice. She has a fantastic reading voice and reads with emotion as called for. Superb!

This one will leave you speechless!

Yes, I’m left speechless! PI Jessie Cole is once more on the case...she has been hired to locate a woman that has been presumed dead for almost 30yrs but her daughter doesn’t believe it. Then Jessie is also hired to search for a woman whose grandmother has passed away and has left her an inheritance. Unbeknownst to Jessie, her search will unearth a kidnapping by a broken man. Meanwhile, crime reporter, Ben, is entangled in the murder of an accused child molester. The ending will shock you! This is one of those books that leave you wanting more! It’s awesome!

Bad last chapter! And this is the last book?

Wow! I loved this book until the last chapter. I’m not crazy about where the author took this so I’m not sure I’ll read the next book if one of the MC’s, that I really like, turns out to be a serial killer.

Anyway, this was a really good story about 3 different stories going on: Jason and Lacey were buried alive. Nathaniel Snyder was accused of killing his wife, on the testimony of his father-in-law. And someone hung Roger Willis, the pedophile. They were all very good. BUT mostly, I love Zee Gatley’s character. She has no problem with the voices of Marion, Lucy and Francis who occupy her head. She says she would be lonely without them. And they say some of the funniest things sometimes.

There was no romance in this and the F-bomb was used 31 times.

As to the narration: You don’t get much better than Kate Rudd. Her voices are perfect and when she reads it’s so full of feelings and emotions.

I just read where this is the last book in the series. Which means we'll never really know the truth about Ben? That's so uncalled for! I feel cheated..

A LOT happened

While I am so sad that this is the very last Jessie Cole book, I do have to tell you that this was my favorite of them all. So much happened. We learned so much about the current characters in this series. It was funny. It was sad. It was amazing!

Disappointing

This is the 4th and final book in the series. It is seriously disappointing! You don't really get any closure at all. The mystery behind Ben Morrison is still a mystery.

Really good

Enjoyed this book very much. I especially liked to see that when confined together under ground that people realize who they really are as people.
