Great Look Into Freemasory

This was definitely a good listen, and I'm pleased to say that it was much better than even I thought it would be when I started.

Any Freemasons out there are going to find this a great resource, but it is also a good look into the craft for outsiders and for those who are simply curious or want to learn more about what Freemasonry is really all about.

This book is actually over 100 years old, but it still reads like something that was recently written.

Narration was pretty solid here. No complaints at all.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author, publisher, or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review. I was NOT required to write a positive review and this reflects my honest opinion of the work.

A Really Great Book On Masonry and Rules of Nature

I couldn't even believe it when I saw this book was written in 1914. It was such a wonderful listen and it holds strong today. It's the best audiobook or book I've ever listened to or read about masonry.

This book explains the allegorical nature of what it means to be a mason as well as a good person and to see the good and become enlightened. I think this is a must listen to. Many people don't understand the philosophy of masonry and this audiobook is the perfect opportunity to clarify many misconceptions.

Craig C. Hummel narrated this book wonderfully. I enjoyed listening to him as he had a calm, relaxing voice which resonated very well with the book. He spoke clearly and had a nice tone. I'll say this before anyone else does. One line was repeated in chapter nine but I thought he did such a great job it didn't even matter. And perhaps a few names were pronounced differently from what I've heard but I knew who he was talking about. I loved the book and feel it's well-deserving of the straight across five stars.

If you're looking for answers this may only make you look more.

As a Mason, I enjoyed 90% of this book. This book gives a lot of back story to the Mysteries of Freemasons, but at the same time discounts them as most likely not true. I would say if you really enjoy the degree rituals, you will enjoy the book as it is written in that tone. Now, if you are seeking answers to you non philosophical questions of Freemasonry, then I would sooner recommend Freemasonry for Dummies. That has facts and figures and back story that is accurate and you will love.

A very good story.

What made the experience of listening to Builders the most enjoyable?

Although this very informative book for both Masons as well as non-masons was written in 1914, it still applies today, perhaps even more so with our quickly deteriorating society.

Excellent Content, Terrible Presentation

Newton's 'Builders' is a classic text in the circles of American Freemasonry, especially as a profoundly insightful account of the primordial philosophical origins of the Craft. However, Hummel's insistence to be the narrator has catastrophically reduced the book's appeal. The performance is monotonous, tedious, utterly deprived of passion, and torments one's ears and mind. The book deserves a much better narration, but a proper audio narrator. Content: 9/10. Performance: 0/10.

New Mason 50 Year Old Brother

For years, I was interested in Masonry. I was always impressed that so many of the founders of my country and the founders of my chosen religion had been Masons. Their devotion to Masonry caused a great personal interest. As a middle aged man, I became a Mason two years ago.

Without doubt, this book has been the GREATEST source of knowledge and inspiration with respect to the history and purpose of Masonry.

I really enjoyed it. I especially found the thoughts and quotes towards the end of the book priceless.

It is truly a timeless classic.

A Great Resource

This book is a great resource for both Masons and non-Masons alike. Despite the age of this text, it still provides a solid opportunity for one to educate themselves - in a general sense - about Freemasonry with coherent and organized information.

An exceptional overview - I am not a mason

I have been intrigued by this fraternity for 20 years - I decided to try to understand it from a masons perspective vs. YouTube and blogs.

This is inspirational to those trying to make sense of its secrets and traditions.

Best book of 2018 for me.
