Publisher's Summary

By combing through the journals that Hannah has kept for much of her life, this collection of narrative essays delivers a fuller picture of her life, her experiences, and the things she's figured out about family, faith, love, sexuality, self-worth, friendship and fame.

Revealing what makes Hannah tick, this sometimes cringeworthy, poignant collection of stories is sure to deliver plenty of Hannah's wit and wisdom and hopefully encourage you to try your hand at her patented brand of reckless optimism.

Personal note:

Hello, my darlings! I am incredibly pleased to present Buffering: Unshared Tales of a Life Fully Loaded!

As a big fan of memoirs, I wanted to try my hand at writing about the events of my life that deserve a little more consideration than can be accomplished in 140 characters or a six-minute vlog. Now on the cusp of turning 30, I'm ready to expose some parts of my life that I haven't shared before. Before, it was all about privacy, process and time. And now the time has come! I'm ready to put myself out there for you. I'm a little nervous about all these vulnerable words going into the world, these tales about my love life, the wrestling I've done with faith, how I feel about sex and my family and myself. I've had a lot of trials, a lot of errors, but also a lot of passion. Here's the thing: I've always found comfort in the stories shared by others, so I hope my stories, now that I feel ready to tell them, will bring you some comfort, too.

And when you listen to this book, please remember: buffering is just the time it takes to process.

Enjoy!

Love,Hannah

Heartfelt

People have told me that I am a heartless person who does not care about other people. I have believed them my whole life. I have never felt any attachment to my family or any other I have met. But it's been a rollercoaster of emotions when I heard your life. I truly felt happy when Hannah got laid and I was on the brink of tears when it ended. Thank you Hannah for showing me that even a sociopath like me can feel emotions. Love You Lots.

Started off a bit slow, but worth it.

I’m used to Hannah being jokey drunk self on my drunk kitchen. I actually expected her to be a lot more cynical and sarcastic here. Her story, is pretty surprising, and that, paired with her candour about trying to do better in life as far as mental health is concerned, made me keep listening. I’m glad I did, because it was actually really healing. As a queer person I obviously found her coming out story relatable, and when she spoke about her relationships that was cool too, I appreciated the perspective. But the most healing thing was hearing her talk about her childhood pain, and growing through all the different toxic events and habits in her life. It was definitely a bit cheesier than I’d like in parts, but I kinda just respect that as part of her personality, and she still told her story really well. As a biography it honestly shows emotional maturity and massive growth as a person. Covers important stuff around mental health and family.

Authentic

Hannah Hart never fails to captivate people through her words whether spoken in a video or in a book; I listen to her podcast, have watched her videos for years and she has always been true to herself. I can’t think of a more honest and revealing book, especially after such a traumatic life people hide away and are fearful of their flaws, Hannah has worked for years on herself and created an autobiography about her stumbles through her journey. Plenty of emotions were experienced through this book and I hope others enjoy as much as I did!

Has an undescrible relateability

Funny, beautiful, painful and gives a woman with Inatentive ADHD so much hope. Hannah has had a heck of a trying life and because of that she's probably one of the strongest and compassionate people I've read about. And that gives me so much hope and someone to look up to when facing my own inner demons. I recommend reading this especially if you consider yourselves privellaged or don't get the big deal of Gay Pride, promoting mental health or just in general feel like none of that stuff people 'moan' about matters, because this is an eye opener to how a completely normal and successful looking person may have gone through a lot and how invisible and difficult it all is. It may even help some people realise their own issues in the process. The one warning I'll give [SPOILER] is that this book may be triggering for those who've had a tough childhood or have struggled with a parent with mental health issues.

Moving and authentic.

What Hannah has achieved both in her career and in terms of personal growth and insight is remarkable given her difficult start in life. Her honest and empathic attitudes towards her mother's mental health are compassionate and moving, and many could, and should, learn from them.

great book, brilliantly read. Hannah really opens herself in this. Showing the pain as well as her usual light that has carried her through. A huge well done to Hannah as this can't have been easy to write or read.

Funny, heartwarming, poetic, truthful, sometimes gritty.

Loved hearing Hannah tell her story outloud. It's one of victory in small ways. I love the way she describes her relationships. There are times when it all seems so hopeless but she manages to find Hope. Thank you for telling your story Hannah! Wish you all the best in the future. Thank you for your humour! 😘🌈💕👌

Eloquently spoken, beautifully moving.

This was the first audio book I have listened to and having Hannah read it herself made it much more raw and relatable. Every chapter had intense detail that made it impossible to stop listening. Amazing, although triggering, Hannah is gifted with her words.

Humanising, compelling and insightful.

There is a feeling of kinship as you listen to Hannah's heartfelt telling of her formative moments. The story of the Monk and the General needs to be published as an illustrated children's book. Absolutely wonderful!

An important masterpiece of a life needing to be heard.

This book spoke to me in such a raw and untainted way that I have never experienced before. Hannah Hart’s book is a wonderfully constructed book of experiences and deeply rooted lessons that need to be learnt by those struggling in their childhood or with mental illness. There were times listening to this book where I broke down with realisations of the harsh reality that humans can be subject to. I believe I am and will become a better person having heard Hannah’s life. This was truly inspiring!

Phenomenal

Hannah Hart is an incredible person. Not only for her work with charity and LGBT+ organisations, but through her triumph through constant struggle through her childhood and revolving around her sexual identity. This book is fantastic. I cried reading and listening on the train. Twice. Thank you, Hannah, for sharing your story. Ever indebted to you.
